AlwaysAList.com has learned exclusively that veteran boy bandNew Edition has landed a new recording contract with Motown Records.

The group—made up of Ronnie DeVoe, Bobby Brown, Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, Ralph Tresvant and Johnny Gill—will record a new CD for the storied label, which has been rebranded and is now run by Ethiopia Habtemarian.

Joining Motown’s roster makes New Edition label mates with artists like Ne-Yo, Erykah Badu, Kem and Nelly, among others.

In addition to their new record deal, New Edition will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at 2012 Soul Train Awards in Las Vegas on Nov. 8. The broadcast will air on both BET and Centric on Nov. 25.

New Edition, who celebrated their 30-year anniversary in the business this year, is also shopping a reality series about their professional endeavors.

The sextet’s last studio CD, “One Love” was released in 2004 on Bad Boy Records.
