Pop Pink vs R&B Pink

I know Pink fancies herself as some hard punk chick but I never really bought into it. I like her. She can sing, dance and entertain but ever since she went pop I haven't been that into her music. In my opinion her first album was the shit. I wish she would make another one like it. She was also more bad ass back then image wise. I think she tries too hard to prove how "hard" she is but whatever....Which version of Pink do you guys prefer? I'm curious to see what her new album sounds like but I'm not expecting much. Her jams are all starting to sound the same to me.

I have one Pink album--the punk one, Try This produced by Rancid's Tim Armstrong. That's the only Pink I like.

You're right! Try This was actually pretty good but for the most part her singles are always cheezy anthemic mall party pop jamz. Just seems so silly. I feel she has so much more potential, yet she insists on making watered down shite for the masses. Oh well....

Her first album and the misunderstood album are her best.

Really? I know she's been more successful since going pop but don't her songs seem so watered down??

Very waterdown.... I still respect her though because she still tackles complex themes... I think her best POP album is M!sundaztood razz

Pink doesn't like her first album and has said in interviews she agreed to make that music because she was happy to no longer be working in fast food. She is also one of the highest album selling and concert ticket selling stars in most of the world (respectable in the states, remarkable elsewhere).

Wow it seems like she's almost disowned her first album. What a shame. There were some great tracks on it that suited her voice very nicely. I hope one day she will embrace that side of her music again but I doubt it.

I think her debut is her worst CD and I'm an R&B head. It sounds really dated and the singles were full of dated jargon like "bling." I still love There You Go and Let Me Let You Know. She's an r&b vocalist at heart.

Her other CDs are more consistent but they sorta all sound the same after a while. She desperately needs to work with new producers and put some r&b back into the mix. Catch Me While I'm Sleeping is the perfect combo of pop/rock/r&b to me.

Pink is an artist i like but am always mixed on.. Her R&B stuff was pretty good.

Hewr misunderstood album was really good! the next was ok...

And from then on she had great songs like dear mr.president, stupid girls, Funhouse who knew.. & even so what i'll admit i liked that lol

I also dig her tough/vulnerable girl personality lol , but sometimes she does to much with making every song she does an anthem... i mean this new song of her's sounds like another raise your glass.

I would love to see her do a straight up rock album cool

I agree with both statements. That's what i'm talking about. It seems contrived now too. Every song is some big pop anthem. You can just see her and the producers in the studio, like "come Pink, we need another huge anthemic hit."

A rock album from her would be the shit. Not Pop/Rock. I'm talking straight up heavy rock. That would be bad ass!!! While we're on the subject I'd like to see Fantasia try a Funk/Rock album. I think she would kill it!

Didnt she already basically do a rock album with Try This? It kinda sucked too.

She has some good songs...but it just has not been consistant after Missundastood.

Cant Take Me Home was an alright. I wish she would just do r&b and rock/pop. it fits her. her first two albums singles are her most well known.

Try This had some rock elements, but also had a lot of pop going in it as well.

As dancerella mentioned i would love to see a heavy heavy rock album with solos, heavy bass & drums! that would be great for her cool

But i would like ot see her do R&B stuff again to, she has a versatile voice where she can do that type of thing biggrin

I like Pink, but I prefer her doing her more rock-influenced pop, and I hate her ballads.

If you will, so will I

I love Pink's voice. She can sing a wide variety of genres. She only did r&b for her first album because she was made to do it by the label. After that, she was able to get more creative control and ever since, we've been hearing the music she wanted to do.
