No album art or track-listing released yet though I'm 99.9% sure "Come and Get It" will be included, lol.

I can't wait to see more about this release.

O.M.G!!

3 discs of ONLY unreleased songs?! Or is it more like Hits + 5 unreleased songs? Well either way it's an exciting news. But if it's from Motown, it's solely the Jackson5 songs correct? I hope Epic releases previously unheard Jacksons material soon too!!

I'm only assuming by the title of the disc. "Come and Get It," is the name of a widely known J5 bootleg that's never been officially released. And then add the "Rare Pearls" to the end of it. I hope it's not another greatest hits package.

Yeah me either. I hope the kind folks at Motown/Universal go all out with this release. I can honestly say that I have become highly excited about the news of this release than the recent tracklisting of Bad 25.

Not sore what original complete version means? It might be a totally different mix?

The original released versions were probably shortened from longer songs. This often happened because records couldn't hold a lot of time. Also, Top 40 stations of the time usually wouldn't play songs longer than 3 minutes, so songs were edited because of that reason too.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I don't think Move a Mountain was a single though. It was just an album cut as for Thats How Love Is, it's fairly new.

I did read that they edited Buttercup for the release a few years back. Maybe we get the complete track this time (and some more Wonder tunes!)

It doesn't have to be a single. An album couldn't hold much time either. If they tried to put more than a certain amount of time (around 45 minutes), the sound quality drops. This is why Billie Jean & Lady In My Life were shortened on Thriller. The full Billie Jean was released on a maxi single, and the uncut Lady was released on a Rod Temperton compilation. CDs made albums longer. That's why labels can sometimes put 2 pre-CD era albums on 1 CD. During the LP era, you could either shorten the songs or leave them like they are and make it into a 2 LP set (ie. Prince's 1999). The original released version of The Temptations Psychedelic Shack was short. But on the CD compilation Psychedelic Soul, Motown put the uncut version on it.

Hum Along and Dance uncut was bad. I hope for more funk uncut jams like they did with Dancing Machine?

Hopefully Get It Together, Moving Violation, Forever Came Today and others.

I wonder if we'll get some tracks from Tito and Marlon's solo material that never seen the light of day. Maybe some Jermaine "Do Unto Others" outtakes. Of course the Stevie Wonder sessions.

I always wondered if they worked with other producers at Motown like Smokey or Norman?

I always liked there work with Willie Hutch.

Here is part of an interview from Harry Weinger from almost 2 years ago. It was conducted by the great J5-Collector.

Will the J5 get a deluxe edition treatment for any LP’s? (For the fans – a deluxe edition is a 2-disc release of the original studio album accompanied by a second disc containing alternate takes/versions of the same songs as well as studio outtakes).
I hate to say we’ll see…but we’ll see. There’s a lot more in the vault – even after Motown seemed to clean it out when MJ was hot with Thriller, and then in 1995 with Soulsation!, there are plenty of quality recordings left. A few titles include a studio version of “Feelin’ Alright”; the Beatles’ “Yesterday,” which was also part of their first live sets and then dropped; a great cover of “Up On The Roof”; some cool funk tracks; Corporation outtakes that I hope to have Deke Richards put back together; and a song called “We’re The Music Makers,” a fun up-tempo song that is similar in subject matter to “We’re Here To Entertain You.” Man, for all that hysteria and the crazy schedule they were on, the boys recorded like crazy. There are also things that aren’t finished and in my opinion are not great, but that’s to be expected from so much volume.

And here is another interview with Harry from around the same time.

Vibrations Magazine : Could you talk about the unreleased songs by the Jackson 5 which are still sleeping in the vaults?

Harry Weinger : (He takes out a CD stack from the drawer: Jackson 5 Rare Number 1, Jackson 5 Rare Number 2, Jackson 5 Live At The Forum) : The Corporation made, with the Jackson 5, a superb cover version of "Mama Told Me Not To Come ", a song which, at that time, was competing with a song by the Jackson 5 for the top of the charts. "Mama Told Me Not To Come" is very touching because it tells the story of kids who are at a party they should not be, and then someone tells them a dirty thing: "We have stolen your keys! You can't go! " And the boys lament: "My mother will kill me, I habe to go home, Mama told me not to come." "Mama Told Me Not To Come" spotted number 1 which was formerly by "The Love You Save" by the J5, hence the idea of them recording a cover version.

I mentioned "If I Can not Nobody Can not" part of the tracks that have filtered from internet before I was in charge. "Would You Would You Baby" which is in the vaults under a different title, "Love Trip", "Making Life A Little Easier For You", another song from The Corporation. There is also a cover of "What's So Good About Goodbye" sung originally by the Miracles.

On our CD I Want You Back! Unreleased Masters there is a song titled "Love Call", for which we also have another version with the same instrumental, but with completely different lyrics, and re-recorded a few months later when Michael's voice was being transformed, which probably explains it was never released. This version is incredible, but we had to make a choice for the CD and our small committee chose the first version of "Love Call".

Next year, maybe we will release an expanded version of the CD and we'll put the second version of "Love Call" for people to compare.

As for the "Live At The Forum", there are two shows, recorded in 1970 and 1972, which are quite different. In 1970, the songs were longer, the group talked between songs, they last night, while in 1972 they had more hits like "Sugar Daddy" or "Mama's Pearl" and Michael sang his own songs, along with Jermaine.
