Amazon is offering Frank Ocean's Channel Orange for $2.99 MP3 download. That's crazy for a new release.

I was reading in an article about Frank's 1st week chart success (when the album was only sold on itunes for $9.99) that for the coming week's chart, none of the Amazon albums will count towards sales totals because, as a Billboard rule, no album sold for less than $3.49 counts toward an album sale for chart purposes. So, I wonder why Amazon didn't just sell it for $3.49 or even $4.99, still an incredible bargain.

I love the convenience of digital downloads. But I thought the music quality wasn't the same as CD (which I know isn't as good as vinyl).

I just hate dealing with CD's that I then have to load onto my desktop, to then transfer to iphone.

REally how many people still listen to CD's as oppose to other devices?

So question;

Do you all just go for digital instead of CD's? Does CD's have extras like inserts that make it worth while to get the CDs?

To me that was the biggest reason to get LP's vs CD's was because of the artwork and dust covers.

I would prefer LP, but too expensive. My other option Is CD and lastly MP3's. Sometimes it's just MP3's only, so no way to get a CD/LP. I wish they gave an option for Flac like some other sites like bandcamp. If I like the MP3's I would consider buying the CD used if it's a good deal. I do shop CD/BD/DVD on marketplace mostly. For Jazz I'd just buy the CD if priced right, no mp3's for jazz.

I love CD's the best becuase of the booklets.

Thanks you have answered my question. I assume no jazz mp3 because you DO sacrifice sound quality with mp3... enough that you won't buy mp3 for jazz.

Dang! I really like the prices $2.99 for all those RB favorites that are on amazon this month.

I guess imma gonna have to just sacrifice sound quality. I can't pass up those great deals.

mostly you can get artist's whole discography in FLAC for free off torrent sites
