I was never all that impressed with their duet. It was always just okay for me. It's my least favorite song on the "Chaka Khan" album. And I actually prefer the remixed version that appears on her "Remix Project" CD.

Surprisingly,this jam was never released as a single.R&B radio jumped on it,anyway.This song got alot of airplay.If it had been a single,it surely would been an R&B Top 5 smash.

I was suprised Warner didn't release this as the second single at black radio instead of "Tearin' It Up". I think the label was pretty annoyed with her at that point because she and Arif were going into the studio recording what they wanted to record and not giving the label that big Pop hit. That's why they gave her an ultimatum before she went in to record "I Feel For You". And it worked!

What a wretched song. One wonders how they were coaxed into singing this mess.

I always liked this one a lot, too. But It never really seemed it a duet somehow; a little bit like they were singing about each other rather than singing to each other.

Yeah,this really should have been the second single."Tearin It Up" went nowhere,but I'm sure that "Slow Dancin" would have been a Top 5 R&B smash.It got a great reception from R&B radio.Warners sorta screwed Chaka's career up.As you pointed out,they wanted that "big pop hit" and they got it,but I didn't like that album ('I Feel For You') and the one that came after it ('Destiny').Chaka made her best music (as a solo artist) when she and Arif were allowed to do their own thing.1981's 'Whatcha Gonna Do For Me' is her masterpiece.That album is so damn good! Shame on Warners for making her abandon that warm,soulful sound in favor of commercial,synth-heavy,mid-80s pop.

I think they were both very fine albums. Did they possess the same warmth as the her previous albums? Nope! But, they did force her to grow, branch out and become more contemporary. Before IFFY, she was starting to be considered old-fashioned by a lot of people. So, even though IFFY may not be considered her best album and she said she felt totally disconnected from it, I thank God for it. It saved her career from going in the can sooner than it should have.

This is true. I still like those mid 80s albums.
