R & B Divas Reality Series Coming to TV One

June 25, 2012

Link

R&B stars Faith Evans, Nicci Gilbert, Keke Wyatt, Syleena Johnson, and Monifah Carter are joining the reality show circuit.

R&B Divas will premiere on cable network TV One on Aug. 20 (10 p.m. EST).

The eight-episode, one-hour series chronicles the ladies' long-running friendship as well as their professional lives and personal challenges.

Spurred by Evans, the quintet comes together to produce a charity album inspired by Whitney Houston. Proceeds from the album will benefit the Whitney E. Houston Academy of Creative and Performing Arts in East Orange, New Jersey. As this project unfolds, so does a candid look at other career and personal issues affecting the divas, including motherhood, divorce, alcohol and physical abuse as well as entrepreneurial pursuits.

On the latter front, Gilbert recently unveiled her Curvato fashion line during Full Figured Fashion Week in New York City. And Evans is a partner in Glass Hair Products, which launched in New York City on June 14.

"These ladies have known each other in the industry for quite a while," says TV One executive VP of original programming and production Toni Judkins. "We aren't creating relationships for the sake of a television show, so their actions, relationships and emotions are authentic and true to life-and it makes for a powerful narrative."

Originally titled Ladies of R&B, TV One's R&B Divas is filmed primarily in Atlanta, with additional shooting in Washington, D.C., New York and New Orleans. The series is produced for TV One by Thinkfactory Media.

I must say though...............another reality tv show? Really?

The one good thing about this show is that the focus is on trying 2 make it in the biz and the things that go on when u are trying 2 make it and or maintain your career.

Sylena is going 2 put out an acoustic live set of her latest cd.

Man.....this thing is HOT!

The funniest part about this thread is those of you saying "Really another Reality show?"..As if Reality TV hasnt over-populated TV for the last 10yrs...

What do you guys THINK Broadcasting & Cable is gonna give you for a very long time? Reality TV...It aint going away anytime soon...

Reality TV is CHEAP and the Reality participants can be paid cheaply...

I don't have TV One, but even if I did I wouldn't watch this shit. That goes for any 'reality' TV series. If more people were like me, reality TV would have died years ago. lol

I've noticed all of these reality shows involve women. I got good money on Ciara, Lil Kim and Tweet signing up to do a BET version of VH1 and TV One's reality shows. When you career is in the dumper, show your ass for a 2 month supply of weaves, access to clubs for filming and a low-budget record for an album that will brick like a NBA player shooting free throws during crunch time.

Seems the ones that involve women last while the reality shows involving men don't last. Like that reality show with Keith Sweat trying to revamp Dru Hill didn't last long. I only saw one episode of that. Snoozefest. Also K-Ci & Jo-Jo had a reality show two years ago...I'm guessing that only lasted one season too. It really wasn't that bad. Didn't Ginuwine have a reality show at one point? I can't remember. Or am I thinking about a "Life After" episode or something? confuse And let's not forget, women are much more cattier than men. Can you imagine two guys going out to brunch, lunch, dinner, and late dinner discussing what some other dude was saying about him behind his back? Or trying to squash things with some dude he shot last night at the club? Men don't operate that way. lol

Hey MissFee (waves) from what I've read, Ginuwine and Sole are seeking to do a reality show. I'm not sure if he's done one yet tho.
