She said her son is a big fan of 50 Cent's. Really? Has she ever listened to the lyrics of ANY of his songs? It seems she would be better served monitoring what her son is actually listening to rather than the comments taken out of context that he would never have come across. I understand her stance is symbolic, and a good opportunity to push her cause, but it comes across as a bit empty and grandstanding.

Holly & Rodney most likely let their kids listen to clean version from Wal-Mart.

How is her stance symbolic?

She is in the front lines on autism

And I don't see that as pushing her cause at all

And definately nOt empty or grandstanding

50cent was a bitch with his ignorant comment

I'm glad she said something instead of being like most

people and looking the other way. Most people need a verbal open handed slap in the mouth to make them think. Many need a physical slap in the mouth.

It is symbolic in the fact that it was taken out of context. He was not talking about her son. He was poking fun at someone else. This is 50 cent, a gangster rapper, not Wayne Brady or Nick Cannon. Where are the anti-violence people? The anti-n word people? The anti-misogynist? Do you see where I am going with this? I am not a 50 cent fan at all, he removed the comments, so he thought better of it later. But his original intention was not to slam people with autism. It is this era of narcissistic disillusion that makes people internalize everything and put themselves on the spot.

I don't think his comment was inherently ignorant, as he went on to explain the context. Perhaps insensitive. He may indeed be a bitch, but not because of that comment.

I guess this is a joke. But if not, please let me know what the Walmart version of "I don't want you to love me, I want to fuck and just be friends" works out to be.

Oh please. Lots of autistic kids have that blank/"nobody's home" look on their face. I assume that's what 50 is referring to.

I'm mean even though directed at 1 person he made reference to autistic people

TOTALLY ignorant, means he lacks information

Flag is already planted, he's being beaten up on message boards everywhere, and if you think there is no controls on thoughts or speech then don't get a job, don't live in the real world. And 50cent has sponsors that can censor him if they pull their sponsorship uh for real?

50 Cent and Chris Brown both need to stop acting the fool on social media

Like lastdecember said it hardly matters what they say, just that it gets picked up by the media in an endless news cycle. So it gets reported that something was tweeted then taken down, only screen shots were captured so the damage has already been done. Holly Robinson responding to this made 50's day I'm sure, not that he meant to offend, because that would involve thinking in the first place. All attention for attentions sake, and a false sense of celebrity worthiness because people are talking about you.

and then when he apologizes that'll be News too, i mean it was a dumb comment, its like someone saying "oh your retarded" ignornant YES but worthy of news and oprah episodes etc..and an hour on CNN about Autism? i mean come on now, 50 Cent is a fool, this is a man that said if the patriots won the super bowl he'd tweet a pic of his dick, this guy sells energy drinks now, hes a fake rapper and always was and now he is trying to start shit because no one cares about his music

Oh man, I just can't believe some of the reponses here. I mean, while there seems to be so much more comments in support of Frank Ocean coming out, which is all well and good, it saddens me that so few are condemning Fifty for his nonsense, and instead saying that its not even newsworthy! So what is newsworthy cos I don't see a whole lot people here talkin any politics, but rather, just trivialising on nothing in particular. And just because Fifty was putting someone down by saying that they behave/act like an autistic and equating that with stupidness doesn't mean that he's not having a go at autism. Of course he is; its called being DEROGATIVE, something alot of you need to go look up in a dictionary. In the same way that Mel Gison rightly got so much flak for his anti-semetic nonsense I hope the same happens to Mr Cent. Unfortunately, it seems, while prejudice, also rightly, in terms of race, culture, religion, and sexuality is now very much frowned upon, putting down, being derogatory, abusive and belittling, violent even, towards people with special needs, the most vulnerable in society, is okay. What a strange world we live in.

By the way I do commend Holly for her comments. Fiddy has always said some DUMB shit on Twitter anyway. I had to re-read her post, it sound like someone had been screenshooting it for her and because her son's a fan (who happens to suffer from autism), she was like "man hold up..." so good for her.

when did that happen? I must have missed that one. Maybe she was more upset in this case because it was about her son...

.

Of course, speak up for your son. I was commenting on her self-respect. Mayer said she was gorgeous in a Playboy interview, but she didn't read into what he said about black women as a whole, and that includes her. It's over, and again I applaud her for calling out 50 Cent on his comment. Not sure if he's got the message.

It isnt newsworthy, but its being dismissive by saying that, as for Frank Ocean, 98% of america dont know who he is, he is meaningless, and who cares that he came out that too isnt newsworthy, and neither is he, he is lucky that his own family knows who he is cause most dont. My issue with any of this is that OVERTAKES the news, America is a stupid country because this is NEWS, thats the problem, 50cent is a waste no one cares about him against twitter fools. But because 99% of the world is a faccebook or twitter zombie, this insanity becomes news. I dont need a holly robinson to tell me 50cent is an idiot, or homophobic, or degrading person, i knew that 5 minutes after he first spoke when he came on the scene. As for Frank Ocean, meaningless, and just because its news on the ORG thats about the only place people are talking about it

People don't understand the undercurrents of coming out as it pertains to celebrity.

Most gay celebrities come out after years of success in the business. By that time most of your audience is going to stick with you because they're already invested in you. They've already made headway in the straight world.

This whole Frank Ocean thing is new because he is someone bubbling under who is introducing himself pretty much as a new artist as gay. Now even people who didn't know him can dismiss him out of hand OR people can decide to let it be and buy his album anyways after hearing a few tracks.

What if Adele had came out when she released her first single "Chasing Pavements"? I doubt she'd be a 30 million selling artist no matter how talented some thinks she is.

Frank Ocean who? Everyone is a Frank Ocean who at some point in their career. But NO ONE with the potential to be a game changer has introduced themselves to a mass audience as gay.

That's where the newsworthiness comes in.

But yeah it's over reported.

Man, it really irks me when some say something is not newsworthy otherwise we might as well just talk about whats happening in syria, all day, everyday. Its news whether its for a day, a week, a year, a decade. It all depends on what its about; whether its light, trivial, affecting, depressing, uplifting, important... Frank Ocean coming out is news, and Fiftys nonsense is news too. No doubt it will all die down if hasn't already. With Frank theres nothing more to say; there have been numerous celebs commenting in support, and the masses and media are basically saying that in this day and age its no big deal, although privately some may say otherwise. Its obviously a big deal for Frank and his family and gay people, especially when you consider how homophobic, lets face it, the black music, like the hard rock, music scene is. Until a fellow artist, politician, religious leader, or whoever says anything derogative, nobody needs to be brought down a peg or two here. As for Fifty, he's just being plain offensive and nasty and definitely needs to be slapped down until he apologises, which, I gather, he hasn't done yet. And if he does, it will be disingenuous; it wasn't a one word slip up, he meant it, its the view he holds, or at the very least it didn't bother him to be cruel about it. Sure, we all know he's an idiot anyway, but if he doesn't apologise then he's an even bigger asshole. In any case, I hope his career crashes and burns very soon.

I agree to a point.

It's just that we live in a day and age where EVERYTHING has the potential to be news worthy.

To me hardly anything said on social media is news worthy. And "legit" news organizations wonder where their credibility went when they're quoting things said on social media?

People on social media say things for shits and giggles most of the time, and there's so much untruth and rumor floating around that you don't know what's real and what's fake.

Because Ocean has a debut album coming out in a little over a week and he's on a major label AND is considered a hip-hop act AND came out publicly yeah I feel it's considered news worthy.

50 Cent says stupid stuff all the time, has NO album coming out and what he did say was off the cuff. No news there.

She probably did, If she was even on his twitter

But that's no different from disciplining a child or lawbreaker without telling them why

If fans stopped going to a ballgame because a player made homophobic or racial slurs at them, does he learn that doing what he did doesn't float well and will give him problems?

thats the problem, everyone thinks their shit is newsworthy, and it isnt. Because we dont have a smart public, we need everything in soundbytes, thats why 50cent called someone retarded is news, its easy to the point etc...Frank Ocean is gay, thats news to the point direct, no thinnking involved. This is why in the last year Jon Bon Jovi died one day, Metallica Broke up the next, etc....stupid nonsense can be news in a second in this world. AND IM NOT saying we have to talk about war all day, BUT GUESS what if we gave it the weight of Kim Kardashians Ass and Snookis Vagina, then we would be more proactive with ending these wars without now walking into 2 more...bet no one realized we are about 2 send more arms into 2 more countries for "conflicts", and the shit that we are doing in Mexico with that little war they have going on that is slowly getting into this country, thats the issue, SYRIA and all this other crap is never news like Drake and Chris Brown were. thats the problem.
