Justin Bieber Bombs on TV, And Isn’t Doing So Great on the Charts

Justin Bieber has been sold to us in forceful amounts, but maybe it’s not working after all. His TV special last night on NBC, “All Around the World,” was a bust. For an 8pm show aimed at pre-teens, it finished fourth out of five shows at that hour. Bieber got a very lackluster 0.9 rating in the 18-49 demo and scored just 3.3 million viewers– about half the number of top rated “So You Think You Can Dance” on Fox. It was also beaten by “Dogs in the City.”

On the charts, Bieber released a new album this week called “Believe.” On iTunes, it’s number 1, hands down. But on amazon.com, “Believe” is struggling both digitally and in physical sales. Amazon has it doing best at number 9 of all its different versions. But in reality “Believe” is no knock out hit. Hitsdailydouble.com is claiming that “Believe” will end up around 410,000 copies for the week. That seems high given that the impact is low and the reviews–if they mean anything–are not great.

Indeed, Justin Bieber is starting to hit the Britney Spears trend. His original deluded fans are growing out of their age range, and new fans are hard to come by. I have never understood how or why he was popular. At best, he’s a YouTube creation using a heavy dab of Michael Jackson and Justin Timberlake. He has the sex appeal of celery. He also really doesn’t have any songs anyone knows. I defy the average person on the street to name one of his hits.

This was the Jonas Brothers’ problem, too. And look what happened to them. Teen fame is fleeting. It won’t be long before Bieber is playing the Artful Dodger in “Oliver!” on Broadway.

This is only the evidence that Justin Bieber will not have a long lasting career...I don't see what made people really 'Believe' in 'Believe' anyways? He will be the victim of the on-going cycle in music..lol

I guess the time is ticking now. This is not so surprising because the hype surrounding this album was filled with nothing but bad press and controversy. Sure he still has his core audience, but alot has changed.

A lot of them left him once that "Boyfriend" song and video came out cause they realised he was just a Timerlake rip-off

boxed I watched it boxed my kids didn't even know it was on, (plus they don't care about him) They care more about his female guest who sings that "Here's my number-- call me maybe" stupid song and they STILL didn't tune in!

And celery IS sexy!! hmph!

True, but there were still those that brought the record because his name and face is on it. That single changed alot of things. Again, nothing but bad press and controversy surrounded the pre-release of this album.

It's been three years since he burst onto the music scene. For most music acts, that's not a long time, but for a bubblegum pop superstar that's nearly an eternity. Most of his fans who were in their early teens or tweens have reached their high school years now and are now discovering other artists. Many may still be fans of Bieber, but they are most likely branching out into listening to other artists like Lady GaGa, Katy Perry, Flo Rida, Waz Khalifa, etc. And younger tween fans are into One Direction and The Wanted.

But I'm not sure why this is such a surprise. Most teen acts struggle to stay relevant as they get older, and only a few actually keep their stardom beyond their adolescent years. It worked for Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake, and Britney Spears, but most teen acts fall by the wayside.

He's doing solid on the charts.

Everything he's doing Justin Timberlake has already done, recently, and better.

Their music is catchy but they are just cookie cut white pop idols managed by Simon Cowell. Oh and they dress like the representatives of Brook Brothers. lmao. I wonder when the whole teen idol craze would become uncool again... that even pre-teens would stop with their shenanigans.

Are you sure about that? Judging by the numbers on YT, Justin's mostly underage female fanbase is growing. confused

Yep. And let's not forget the little paparazzi incident that occured a month ago. But still, he has his core fanbase. He ain't never gonna lose them, whether it's another boy band or annoying pop tart, just like Bieber himself.

Why is everyone surprised that someone with a marginal level of intelligence appears to be waning after 2 years. The only reason anyone liked him was because he looked 12 when he was 17 and young girls thought he was cute, like old Herbert style paedophiles. His singing is dreadful and his acting is wooden just like other teen marginal talents like Miley Cyrus.

I mean none of these stars have a career past 3 or 4 years. Who remembers the Jonas Brothers, Zac Efron, Britney Spears etc. Like New Kids on teh Block, Monkess, Backstreet Boys 5ive etc. Record companies see them as some quick cash and sales for 2 years and then dump them once they become less marketable.

In 2 years no one will know who he is

In 10 years he will be a in trailer with a potbelly, mullet and cap and have a wife called Ayla or Aileen and several kids called Billy Bob and Piney Jo.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

Isn't this record going to have the biggest debut out of all the albums he put out. Plus alot of his preteen fans are asleep at 8pm lol and lots of them watch everthing on the internet this day and age. Plus those were huge crowds of fans at his promo shows and in the streets. Like Britney was the Superstar of the 2000's pop scene, his team is doing all they've can to make him the pop superstar of this decade

They are not all white - Zyan is half Pakistani - some anti-Islamists have accused him of trying to pimp his religion onto his fans. I am assuming they are Jesus loving southerners lol
