George Michael announces new single 'White Light' Oh man... my beloved George Michael just announced a new single (and album!!!).
The single is called White Light and is out to radio on June 29th. The 30th (!!) anniversary of Wham Rap!.
Here's the press release, which also confirms a new album for this fall.
GEORGE ANNOUNCES NEW SINGLE: "WHITE LIGHT"!
Hi everyone. On the 29th of June this year it will be 30 years to the day that "Wham Rap", my first single, written with Andrew Ridgeley (on an afternoon that the two of us should have been at school!), entered the British charts. To celebrate and commemorate those 30 wonderful years I am releasing my most recent song, "White Light", to radio on the exact anniversary of that chart date. |
Although I know the music industry tradition on such occasions is to list the hundreds of millions of albums sold, the number of records broken and awards received over all those years, I would simply like to say thank you.
Most of my fans realise that I dreamed of a career as a singer/songwriter from an early age, but never in my wildest imaginings could I have known that I would still be here thirty years later, healthy, happy, and feeling that I still have so much more music to give. It is miraculous in so many ways. Fate has been so kind to me, as have the millions of people that that have bought records and come to see me play year after year since 1982.
I am truly blessed, and "White Light" is my thank you to everybody who has been a part of my success. And I mean everybody, including the press!! Long may it continue.
All my love, George Michael xxx
George will hit the road again on September 4 as Symphonica: The Orchestral Tour resumes in Austria. He is currently writing and producing a brand new studio album, scheduled for release in autumn! It will be George's first new album since his 10 million plus selling No.1 record Patience eight years ago.
Written, arranged and produced by George Michael, "White Light" will be available on Aegean Records through Island/Universal on August 12, 2012.
White Light Track Listing:
1. WHITE LIGHT 2. SONG TO THE SIREN 3. WHITE LIGHT - VOODOO SONICS REMIX 4. WHITE LIGHT - KINKY ROLAND REMIX |

Well you have to remember, he almost died from pneumonia last year so he may still look lethargic in the face... |

I am so ready for a new album from him. Does anyone know what kind of sound he's going for? Please let it be funky/dancey. No adult contemporary bullshit please. |

He did say that he was working on a dance album but who knows if he changed his thought process after his illness... it might be a mixture like Patience. Stay tuned... |

can't keep him down! I'm glad to see he wrote, arranges, and produced it himself. He hasn't done that in awhile. Any news if he's hitting the US on his new tour? |

Don't know. But it would be nice. I don't know. Our audiences seem to be fickle to whatever a legend presents on tour especially someone who was so deep into the threshold of pop music as George was in the '80s and '90s. Maybe that's why he's only done the tour overseas. |

N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. |

Looks fine to me. I'm sure he's had "upkeep" (which I wish I could afford ). The most "done" looking thing to me on that cover are the eyebrows (makeup). |

Cool - good to hear he is releasing something new. I was just wondering this yesterday when watching him sing with Whitney. A talented guy whose voice I've always enjoyed The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.
