Interesting lol I wonder if record companies do these things, nowadays (throw a big picnic for their artists)?

a little trivia: Stevie Wonder attended the 1975 Motown picnic and it somehow inspired him to write "I Wish".

That was cool to see. From a simpler time before money, ego & fame turned to a darker shade.

Given the luminaries on hand, it's pretty astonishing to think of how much money, acclaim & just sheer musical greatness this innocent looking "picnic group" generated.

Lol @ Scatman...Yessssssss.....

Yeah, I could imagine a Cash Money/Young Money picnic thrown right outside of the federal prison Lil Wayne was staying at.

The actor in Car Wash who died in the early 80's is Ray Vitte, who was not Mary Wilson's husband. I think his name was Pedro something.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Thanks Micky, that's the guy... Ray Vitte. I just caught the side profile of the Ms. Wilson husband and he favored Vitte.

Pedro Ferrer and he was a terror. Word around Motown was he was the one who helped to disband the Supremes. Mary and him were coke addicts also and that caused problems in her career (she hardly promoted her only Motown solo album, "Mary Wilson", partially because of cocaine issues and also because Motown refused to promote it because Berry Gordy didn't think Mary could sing). Pedro was also known to go upside Mary's head several times. This caused Cindy Birdsong to leave the group a second time in 1976. I think they divorced after their son Raphael was born.

Thanks for the 411, I knew of Wilson issues but nothing about the man or men in her life. I'm going to have to pull out a Wison album its been a while.

These were the best of times, before the fame became too much for some of them.

I think it's more like the media was MUCH different back then. There wasn't Twitter, so celebs didn't have a chance to show their ignorance 24/7.
