"Rush, Rush"

I heard this blast-from-the-past on the radio, today. Forgot what a pretty track it was:

lol Patti swears she was giving the moon and she refused only to be mad when someone else got the credit. lol I still remember when she got pissed that Stephanie Mills took the song she had originally been offered and sent it to number-one ("I Feel Good All Over").

That song and "My Love Is For Real" are the only things I like about her music.

"RUSH,RUSH" is still one of my favorite (guilty pleasure) songs to this day!! Written by two members of The Family Stand, it was soo different for her. The violin solo just makes my heart smile.

yes, it is unexpected and nice to go with a very simple but pretty melody.

Written by 2/3 of the Family Stand, Sandra St Victor said she was originally meant to record it, but they ended up giving it to Paula LOL.

Also bold choice for first single following her mega hit debut "forever your girl". Her first ballad was a brave choice that ultimately worked.

I've heard probably about a dozen number hits that Patti turned down on this site lol

MOTORBABIES! 96.3 here in Detroit used to play THIS version of Rush Rush. I prefer it to the lp version.

Keep your headphones on.

I always thought this was a really sweet soul ballad, but I can't stand her squeaky, lifeless vocal. Assuming there's not a tasty Family Stand version out there somewhere, it's a great cover waiting to happen.

Nice, but her voice isn't quite right for it, to my ears.

I was trying to think, just there, who I'd like to hear cover it, and it occurred to me that I'd like to have heard our boy take a shot at it during an aftershow. I can hear it performed with a similar overall feel to his cover of A Case of U, with a thin falsetto vocal, but perhaps accompaniment on a semi-acoustic, like the way he performed Joni's classic (along with I Love U in Me) during the '95 tour. Mmmm... drool
