It's a good article and he scarily looks a lot like D-2000!

By the looks of it he'll BE "Untitled" by the time the album drops, which to me seems like it'll be it's target date of September for Grammy consideration.

That's another thing that caught my attention; that they mentioned that. The record company must be very psyched about what they're hearing if they're trying to rush it for Grammy consideration.

He stated that the title will no longer be James River. He has 50 songs but he's going to put 12 on the album.

The article is very long, thoroughly written and has new pics of D'Angelo. This issue is definitely something every fan should pick up.

Yes, I know this. wink That said Crossroads is a long term experiement of EC's. His fandom (of which I'm apart) have wondered at the wisdom of his owning a rehab facility outright. It's less about D and more about EC....that's all I'm sayin'.

I do wish D well and I'm glad he's comin' back.

That is the mother of all D'Angelo articles. Dayum LONG it is.

I'd gladly scan it & put it up but I fear the copyright nazis... boxed

The article's mention of The Org as a "place frequented by purveyors of all things funky" is spot on. cool

See, I told you all not to give up on D´Angelo biggrin . I was among the few here who kept saying he still has it in him to come back with some great music, great shows and even a great physique ( if that´s even relevant). I always said give him a few weeks or months in the gym and he´ll be back with a vengeance. I don´t mind the 10 year hiatus as long as he´s alright and comes back with great music without pandering to the masses, and I´m happy that he´s back again.

I saw his Voodoo show in 2000 in Hamburg and it was a fantastic concert, and I really liked all of his releases so far. We should be glad he´s still around. Drugs and big success can mess with your soul and mind if you´re not careful. I´d rather see him take a long break and come back instead of burning out early and dying from drugs or under other tragic circumstances.

Can´t wait to hear his new album. I´m glad he´s changed the title.

And come on, it´s not like he hasn´t released anything in the past decade, he was featured as a chorus singer in many songs by other artists, and we knew he was recording new songs (Questlove mentioned this repeatedly).

I´m happy that one of the last keepers of soul and funk is back again. Hopefully Maxwell and Badu will follow with some strong material, too.

So did I.

And like I said above, it´s not like he was completely off the radar, he´s appeared on a bunch of tracks in the past decade, some outtakes and new tracks had surfaced on the net, and Alan Leeds hinted at D having problems with his record companies. Plus the drugs and personal stuff.

But that doesn´t mean he´s not capable of getting his house in order.

I found those remarks regarding his looks very mean spirited. Just because someone is a bit out of shape doesn´t mean he can´t get in shape again. People focus way too much on his physique anyway, disregarding the fact that this is one of the last true and talented soul musicians.

A lot of very gifted people have a price to pay for being that gifted. D paid his dues and I hope he´ll come back and keep surprising the naysayers.

lol i'd say trashed D. Then somehow legendary Marvin got trashed too in the crossfire of ridiculousness. But i DO understand Prince is pretty much the musical standard on this site.

It's quite amazing that now all of sudden that D is proving people wrong, people have amnesia, own up to your hating. I'm seeing it other places too, all of sudden some of the same people that were calling him fat and nasty, are swooning over the GQ pic. (Chief Keef voice) That's that ish I don't like. Move around.
