D'Angelo gives first interview in 12 years to GQ-Prince.org is quoted!

I just got it. Michael Fassbender is on the cover. He says the death of J Dilla finally sobered him up and said the car crash he got into made Clive retract a 3 million contract. The article also says that Irving Azoff cut the $40,000 check that got D in rehab in Antigua. He also says his arrest for solicitation was due to him making a dumb decision and says "look at the shit I've been in. I'm not a role model motherfucker."

The quote from the org is: "While it's cool that dude is getting in better shape, I hope his trying to get back to the way othe people picture him or want him to be. Dude just needs to get his head straight."

To which D says his head is straight.

What do you think about the GQ move? You have more faith in management?

Yes. D did an article with them in either 99 or 2000. I am very glad with this move-HOWEVER, I am wondering about the inevitable Rolling Stone interview or if there will be one.

Now that the print is out of the way, I wonder what will be the first live one. Where do you think he should appear?

Allegedly, Essence makes all their acts do press. So most likely there, but I feel that is a horrid idea. Wrong crowd.

I was trying to see an appropriate live venue--I only thought about the night shows (maybe jimmy fallon quest on there), wendy (which is a big no-no), ellen ( i don't know)...what are other options. I would love for him to have a behind the music.

D'Angelo - The Charade...

Look that track up on YouTube. Only the live version is available, but it's a testament 2 what he may have in store 4 the new album (whenever it comes out). Awesome track in my opinion.

Identity

Why isn't he speaking with leading music mags like Rolling Stone, NME and Spin?

If it's a lengthy, in-depth article in GQ , I'll grab it. If not, I'll thumb through it when I go to the newsstand.

I don't know. Maybe he has them in the works. And it's a pretty lengthy article. If you don't want to buy it, just read it in the store. lol

I'm sorry jagoda, I don't have a scanner. Otherwise I would. I just got pissed reading how he had to get out of a car with angie stone (while she was three months pregnant), to get in a car with vivica fox. And when they got out, angie had to follow behind them (three months pregnant). Like why he didn't say something? No wonder she so bitter. I would be pissed!
