Just want to say that I love the illustration and welcome to the Org.!

Not sure if Morris has ever mentioned Janet, but you are right that she did work with The Time, essentially. They were all over Dream Street and Control, and the "Control" video as well. Janet has said in many interviews that she's a huge Prince fan, and that she's seen The Time in concert (she said when Vanity 6 was on stage, she felt embarrassed because her mother was sitting right next to her lol).

That Minneapolis funk is all over "Control", and the Jesse Johnson-produced B-side that MickyDolenz spoke about called "French Blue" is pure Prince through and through

Prince himself has even covered "...Lately" several times in concert.

About that "Yesss!" and cackle at the end of the Control Video Mix, I always thought it was Terry playing around. It's at 5:54 in this video

That IS Terry Lewis @ the end of the song........YESSSSSSS!!!!!!!

Weeeeelll technically I'd say Janet DID work with the Time; she's got Jimmy, Terry, Jellybean and Monte all on Control, and that's more than half of the band haha! And I heard Jerome apparently did the backing vocals on What Have You Done For Me Lately?

Jesse Johnson wrote & produced a couple of songs on Janet's 2nd album and a B-side song. There was a rumor in the 1980's that Janet was going to do a movie with The Time (including Morris). I don't know what the movie was going to be about, but the song You Need Me was supposed to be for the film. Janet has mentioned in several interviews that she went to see The Time in concert and she was a fan of the group. I assume that is why she chose to work with them. As far as I know, she has not worked with Morris, but she has worked with the other 6 members.

She mentions the movie in this clip, sadly she doesn't say what it would be about.... It would have been very interesting.

In interviews promoting the O7's Condensate, Jimmy Jam mentioned that they were going to make a movie in the late 1980's about their story and talked to screenwriters about a script, but then Prince called them to a meeting about appearing in Graffiti Bridge. I don't know if this Time movie is related to the one with Janet.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Thanks for that video! She is just too adorable, and so much like Michael in her mannerisms! I love how she sort of skirted around the topic of Under The Cherry Moon....LOL. But good to hear that she liked Purple Rain!

Dang, I wonder if that screenplay ever got written and if it'll surface on the net....would love to read it.

If it was, it's unlikely anyone involved would post it.

You're welcome lol... And yeah I know, she looks so much like Mike. That's so typical Jacksons, if there's something they dont like they'll just go on and say how brave/awesome they are for trying. They're always been very polite, I guess LaToya is the only one who isnt like that all the way lol...

If it was written, I doubt we'll ever see it. I'd be cool if it showed up on some auction and then that person put it online, doubt it tho. cool

I think of Control as basically The Time with Janet on lead vocals. I also believe that Prince wrote 'What Have You Done For Me Lately' - there's a bootleg of the Revolution in Japan, 1986 where they play WHYDFML and Prince asks 'Who wrote that?'

lol He always says that whenever he plays "...Lately" live. I believe he even said it when he played it on the Nude tour too. I don't think Prince had anything to do with "Lately".

Wait….I am confused by this photo. It looks so NEW but it’s definitely early 80’s Morris.
