RIP Belita Woods

Posted by George Clinton on Facebook. RIP.

'The Saddest Day' from 'How Late Do U Have 2BB4UR Absent?' seems very poignant right now.

I loved her voice, for that alone I always preferred the GB version of "We Can Funk." rose

Rest in peace, Ms. Belita Woods

Without a doubt, one of the greatest highlights for me of any P-Funk concert, was when Ms. Belita Woods would come out and do her part, singing: "The Girl is Bad" and "Sentimental Journey". I'm so grateful I had the opportunity to see this lady perform live dozens of times, and each time it was like she was singing directly to my heart. I LOVED this lady, and her voice. She was a major component of the whole P-Funk experience for me, and it definitely won't be the same without her.

Over the past year, I would hold my breath every time I would see her name in the news. Today was no different, except for the fact that the story that followed was the story I was hoping not to hear. I really loved this lady, may she be resting peacefully.

Brainstorm - Lovin' Is Really My Game

RIP Belita!! One of the most unique voices ever! This is the Jam that introduced me to Belita as an artist. Saw them at the Felt Forum , and they rocked! Her rendintion of Sentimental Journey always took me back to the Southern Church grooves of my past. Thanks for the music, Belita. You will be missed.

Does anyone know when Belita joined GC / P-Funk? The earliest I hear her on is The Cinderella Theory.

I am so saddened to hear this. My heart goes out to her family and loved ones. I loved her singing, she brought such soul and beauty to PFunk. I can't even type. Sorry.

If True Love

If true love is sacred
Mine is yours always forever
It pleases me to pray that
Home you'll come one day back to me
Each and everyday my.. love for you grows stronger, baby
If true is sacred
Yours inspired love

You're so easy to love
Easy to love, you're so easy to love.. your love
There lying still next to your lover not you early in the morning
Ohh.. what a thrill to be lovers to you
Ain't no need to call it

If there's a cure for this here feeling in my heart
Please send it here as though your love were my doctor
Love diagnosed, it exposed, a broken heart
Although, I miss you so
Still adore, love so glad, you're always on my mind
Oooooohhhhh, come to the dance, sporting a sweetheart or two
Make your baby jealous
Give me the chance, give me the chance
To play around on you, To play around on you
You're not the only fellow no
If there's a cure for this here feeling in my heart
Although, I miss you so
Still adore, love for you is always on my mind

If true love is sacred
If true love is sacred
Love, if true love is sacred

Love so glad, you're always on my mind
Love, ummmm, ummmmm,
Love make your baby jealous
There lying still next to my lovers
You're not the only fellow
Make your baby jealous, make your baby jealous
Love, ohh what a thrill to be your lover
You're not the only fellow
To Make your baby jealous

*To clarify: 1992 is when she began touring with them. I'm not certain when her earliest recording with them was however.

Yeah, she really eased onto the P-Funk scene, as if she had been there all along.

This REALLY is bad news.

Brainstorm's "Lovin' Is Really My Game" was as good as ANYTHING that EVER came out of Detroit - bar NOTHING.

I was five years old living in Northeast OH and this record used to come on WDMT. I was five, and I GOT IT. I fucking GOT THAT SHIT. That woman was so coldblooded and mesmerizing on that record. When THAT record came on, the ONLY thing you thought about was if it could ever be possible you could be 25% as funky as what was coming out of the speaker. That kind of spiritual sincerity is 100% IMPOSSIBLE to fake. IT CANNOT BE DONE. BY ANYONE.

Her version of Stevie Wonder's "Every Time I See You I Go Wild" I could go on and on about as well.

Someone please post more details.

I am devastated.
