Esperanza Spalding: Radio Music Society $2.99 on Amazon Not sure how long this will last, but Amazon's selling the CD at a discount for whatever reason.
Change it one more time..

Wow, it's probably not selling well. Too bad because it's a great album. The one shortcoming is that her voice is really thin. More guest vocalists would help. "Love & honesty, peace & harmony"

As a matter of fact, the deluxe edition of Radio Music Society has some of the coolest packaging I've ever seen. And the short film DVD with all of the videos to all of the songs on the album is superb! Must have. Check me out and add me on:

It debuted in the top 10 and sold something like 28,000 it's first week.
For a jazz album that's "Thriller" numbers.

I heard that. Once I get over my phobia, I'll begin to purchase (but with caution lol).

There's also a vinyl version, but it has no DVD. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Pretty much. It's a success as far as I know it. Plus she's got the Grammy exposure.

Exactly. Those are very impressive numbers and folks seemed to respond to it relatively well. Sure jazz snobs aren't gonna touch it, but it is a jazz album at heart with heady soul. It is remarkable that she got into the Billboard 200, on the strength of her Grammy buzz. That's how you do it! Check me out and add me on:

It's always a great option when you get offered Flac files. Wonder why Amazon does not give you the option? When I purchased Sandra Rodriguez EP I was shocked to see a Flac option. BTW the EP is great. [Edited 5/23/12 17:04pm] Just Music-No Categories-Enjoy It!

Lionel was or is 2.99 too this week on amazon. I dont really like the deep discountes they ruin t he charts

The charts have always been "ruined". Decades ago, record companies sometimes bought lots of their own acts records to spike the Billboard listings. Distributors paid record stores to report that certain records were selling more/less than they were. Record club (Columbia/RCA) purchaces didn't count as sales. It isn't a requirement to report sales to the RIAA anyway, and many (especially small labels) didn't. Labels often underreported/overreported sales depending on their agenda. Labels also release some records to fail on purpose for a tax writeoff or quiet performers who complain a lot and want to leave for another label, to kill their chances for a bidding war and/or lose some of their audience.
