Amazon $.25 deals all month long Guns N’ Roses Greatest Hits MP3 Album for ONLY $0.25 (March 12) Nick Ashford was someone I greatly admired, had the honor of knowing, and was the real-life inspiration for Cowboy Curtis' hair. RIP Nick. - Pee Wee Herman

This is what Prince sometimes talks about. When labels drop prices or change them, what does the artist get out of that!? Not much, that's what.

Amazon need to stop with these bullshit deals.

This time, it's not tied into anyting special. It seems to me that this is something the record company is doing to try to get more sales numbers. When they did the Lady Gaga promotion, it was to cross promote the Amazon Cloud/mp3 site. [Edited 3/12/12 16:39pm] **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

Digital is a joke, sorry people i know thats pretty much where its all going, but it sucks quality wise and business wise this is why u see the drop in the artist caliber, ironic how the decline in sales and everything are tied with the lack of creativity in music and all forms of creativity, i mean did we need a 21 jump street movie?. I know its easier to carry around 10,000 songs on your ipod than actually walk around with 100 cds, obviously, but if you are listening to 10,000 songs in one shot, then your on a trip to nowhere. I have shit i bought digital and i didnt even know i had it. they get even less digitally because a new hand is in their pocket, be it itunes or Amazon or Emusic, someone new is getting a cut that wasnt before. I think Amazon is trying to compete with Google's Google Play service. GP also had Drake's album for $.25 yesterday and their holding daily specials to drum up interest because they've given their music program a facelift. [Edited 3/12/12 16:58pm]

It is if it's in Mpshitty3. But a lot of bands/artists offer true lossless digital downloads of their material from their own sites, some even offer 24bit Flac etc. Maybe one day amazon, play and all that lot will catch up.

I don't think it's about them catching up. The truth is that the majority of people don't have a clue about the quality of a recording, nor can tell the difference. So, to them, as long as it sounds "clear" and is "decent" in quality, you will forever have low quality and sub-par quality. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

They usually do this with albums no one buys. You damn sure won't see Adele or Whitney albums for 25 cent any time soon.

Yeah, I don't buy much from Amazon unless I have to nowadays, there shipping policy is to convoluted to bother.

These albums r not discounted by the labels but by google play and amazon. GP just launched thier store they r just spending a few million to create brand awareness and ppl to create accounts with their credit cards and so they can do a i click purchase in the future. GP and amazon r losing a few millions thats all but this is going to create havoc on the charts might deprive mdna from reaching #1

Billboard passed a new rule that making deals like this won't allow the album or song to chart
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
The 3.49 min price only applies to albums less then 4 weeks old after that no min price applies in fact all the albums in this deal will be counted towards the charts
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Do the sales still count for RIAA? Or did they change their rules also? **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

RIAA just gives gold and platinum cert. but they dont produce any charts I am not sure about the rules there. but as far as the charts r concerned any album beyond 4 weeks old is allowed to chart without a min price and the labels arent the ones going around selling the albums for pennies but billboard will step in if they feel its harming their brand but that wont be b4 the damage is done.

Either could be made 25cents depends how much money GP or amazon wants to lose. They would lose more money but create a huge buzz
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I wouldn't be surprised if they just wouldn't be putting the current music on sale for 25 cents in order to get RIAA numbers so that an album can reach a certain certification. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

This is purely to create buzz for the new google play service and they r losing $7/album so they r losing 10millions but want to create a viable competetor to itunes.

The sluggish economy has turned a lot of us into thrift store and bargain outlet shoppers. But low price may not be what customers try to find most in retailers, even in this economy. A new study targets numerous retailers and rates their relevance to consumers. Study looks at relevance ... consumers. It was found that Amazon.com, which excelled in the “practical” category, is the nation’s most relevant seller. Amazon.com highlights the incredible power of e-commerce in the retail world of today. It shows how technology can move a retailer from specialty online bookstore to one that people view as more practical and value-driven than Wal-Mart, the world’s largest retailer.
