U2 to work with One Direction songwriter on new album U2 change Direction U2 reinvented ... how The Edge and Bono might look performing on stage

U2 fans should brace themselves for a new twist to their famous live shows – four stools and standing up during key changes.The Irish rock giants are planning to reinvent themselves as a boyband when they leap back into action later this year.
Bono, Larry Mullen Jnr, Edge and Adam Clayton — have been in touch with a collection of hit Swedish songwriters who helped make One Direction a global sensation. Carl Falk, who co-wrote the Brit award-winning What Makes You Beautiful and One Thing for the teen idols, revealed the secret plan, saying: “There’s a long way to go but we are doing something with U2.”
Bono has had a bad back for a few years, so hopefully it doesn’t mean choreographed dance routines.
A source added: “The band are back in the studio getting a feel for new material after the last album No Line On The Horizon. Will.i.am had a credit on that and they are looking to explore that direction further. They have been working with Dangermouse and Redone They are excited about getting to work with Carl Falk.”

In all seriousness, Falk is the man with pop’s Midas touch. He penned Nicki Minaj's smash hit Starships and worked with Westlife, Backstreet Boys, Taio Cruz and Nicole Scherzinger. Egos are no problem for him either — he produced an album for Hollywood misery guts Russell Crowe.
And he has plenty of experience of big characters, including legendary hellraiser Tommy Lee from Motley Crue.
Falk is based in LA with Steve Angello from Swedish House Mafia and Rami Yacoub — who co-wrote Hit Me Baby One More Time and other hits for Britney Spears.
The Swedish House Mafia connection could make for an interesting new direction for the biggest band in the world. Bono and glow sticks? If it’s good enough for Coldplay..

Back in 2005 a-ha entered the studio with Max Martin the dude that did Britney all the teen kids and I thought WTF could do this do. Well from that session came Analaogue which was their first UK top 10 in over a decade, and sounded nothing like a teen pop hit, so I think everyone is worried about nothing, U2 is not going to become the Backstreet Boys. Sounds like bullshit hung on a tiny speck of truth. Every gap between U2 albums sees wild speculation about who they're working with and for 3 years we've already heard of 147 bizarre collabotators that are supposedly working with on the next album that probably hasn't even been started yet. | |
