I have no problem with Justin trying to evolve BUT that new single is the most try-hard thing I heard this year. I actually prefer his old songs to that. I don’t see this appealing to the 18 and up crowd ( that he’s targeting this time)…it doesn’t appeal to me that’s for sure … Sorry Justin …maybe the next single.

Oh shit, he's 18? It's only a matter of time before the little teeny boppers move on to someone else. If Justin's management didn't know, teenage heart-throbs don't last very long. lol

Zac Efron, Jonas Brothers, Jesse McCartney, etc. Get in line Bieber, you're on your 14th minute. evillol

I agree. I like his voice, he has some amout of talent, and I'd like him to make some great music, but he's trying waaayy too hard with this song. It's embarrassing.

I can’t with the swaggie smh the lyrics in general. You trying to get an older fan base but still catering to those little girls. That song is not it.

I don't like this song. seems as if he's ripping off what Justin Timberlake did with Justified and he jacked some of Michael Jackson's swagger.

...according to Producer Mike Posner

"Justin Bieber Will Change 'The Landscape' With Believe"

This week, Justin Bieber dropped his single "Boyfriend," marking his first step toward making more mature-sounding pop tunes. Co-producer Mike Posner told MTV News that Bieber's upcoming Believe album displays how far he's come since the sugary sweet ditties of his My World days.

"I think our goal was to make something that me and my friends could listen to in the car," Posner explained. "I think we've all known Justin since he was 13, and that's not the kid I was in the studio with anymore. He's an 18-year-old. He skateboards with Lil Wayne and hangs out with Lil Twist. Those are his homies. And he listens to hip-hop and he's a really cool kid. He's not like a corny guy."

"So I wanted to make something that reflected who he is now and who he is going to continue to be," Posner added. "We're still working more on the project and it sounds really incredible. I think people have been waiting [for] when he's going to turn that corner, and the time is now."

"Believe isn't going to change just Bieber's career, but all of pop music, Posner added. "He's kind of bringing soul back, and rhythm and blues back and definitely hip-hop into his music. I'm really excited to see how it's going to change the landscape, and I know a lot of artists are going to have to go back to the drawing board."

"Boyfriend" is the lead single off Believe, which will drop later this year. A video is currently in the works, but no release date has been announced.

when michael was around forty he was writting and singing songs with a meaning, "earth song" "they dont really care about us" "scream" "childhood" "stranger in moscow" "you are not alone" ... none of those are bubble gum pop?

i agree with what you day about justin and artist of today though.

falloff @ The thread title. I stopped reading after that.

Bieber is a cute kid with some talent, but his music is not gonna change the landscape of pop music. Get real lol .

The only landscape his music will ever change is at his 10 storey 20 acre mansion when he adds an extra tennis court or swimming pool or whatever with the $millions of dollars he rakes in off this shite!!!

Justin Bieber is just being hyped to sell more of his crappy music to his teen audience, they are trying to make him the new "Justin Timberlake", and they fail terribly though. He'll probably sell alot or just fade away. Mike Posner shouldnt talk because his music is very plain and repetive, his productions are not revolutionary nor trendsetting. I think this whole r&b-blue eyed soul type of shit, is so boring. It's been done so many times during the 00's... The same hiphop loop and bubblegum r&b shit that already has been done and by far superior singers than Bieber. I think it's time for Bieber to go home and start listening to music and see what he can improve and perhaps then he can break through, and I dont even think he has a musical direction yet which I think he should start thinking about. Perhaps have other types of collabs than just Mike Posner and other basic producers, why not work with some other producers.

You know what's so odd about this? The hype machine usually is what most fail artists, I don't care what generation you represent, hype was never ever good... it's already failing here. You think Justin would blow up from the initial iTunes response. lol

Yeah that's true, sometimes the hype machine makes the artist fail terribly however sometimes it works for instance with Kanye Wests "Dark Twisted fantasy album" alot of hype and it sold pretty well, I believe and got a lot of recognition, (even tho personally I think it's a weak album from him) I think Justin needs to get more sophisticated in taste, I mean first of all he's trying to be Justin Timberlake and Justin aint nbody without The Neptunes(who had MJ in mind when working on those beats) and Timbo (a mix of Prince and Mike) so if Bieber wants to hook up with someone, he needs to go to some other producers who are further ahead than Mike Posner lmao...

Why does someone always wanna talk about mike all of a sudden? geez.... However Mike wasnt doing no damn bubble gum music, at any time after that short period in Motown, (even at motown they got more sopisticated) and even then I wouldnt call The coporations and the the funk brothers musicianship and songwriting "bubble gum" these were experienced musicians and songwriters. At 40 MJ had produced and written some of the most complex pop songs, dealing with corruption, decieving, political issues, greed, hatred, bigotry and racism... Not so popular subjects if you write bubble gum songs lmao...
