Regarding the first tune, "Streetlights" -- I was wondering what kind of filter he's got that little guitar going through--and does he have a couple of bass strings on that thing?

Without seeing the pedal board, my guess is that it's some kind of octave doubler. Using that, it doesn't matter what instrument is triggering it, you'll get the bass vibe.
