Black Ivory 2012 Early 1970's teen soul group Black Ivory has just released a new album.
This is a recent performance of one of their classic tunes. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Leroy also did some producing & writing for other acts in the late 1970's and 1980's. He wrote Big Time that Rick James sang. For those of you who don't know Leroy Burgess (the bald brotha on the left), he's sung, written, arranged, produced, and/or played on some of the most sought after '70s/'80s disco/club classics.

Here's a sample of some of their 'Blue light in the basement music' from back in the day. I always loved that falsetto voice.

Judging by the way his speaking voice sounds in the store performance video above, I'm not sure Leroy can do the high notes anymore. I guess that is why Stuart was doing the falsetto vocals. I'm not familiar with them as well but I applaud their effort to put out new material when sales and airplay are virtually non exsistant. They look quite handsome and healthy for men in their 50's. Jeux Sans Frontiers

There's an older market who is not being catered to by the major labels and the media. The smaller labels like Alligator, Malaco, etc. have been around for years with little attention from radio, press, and TV. Some of these old acts are popular in Japan as well.
