Britney Spears Offered $10 Million for X-Factor

Britney Spears X Factor

Britney Spears will likely fill one of the vacant mentor/judge seats next to Simon Cowell on The X Factor. I have learned that, following an overture by Cowell and an initial discussion, the pop star has received a $10 million offer to join the second season of Fox’s singing competition. The recruitment of Spears would bring the star power Cowell & Co. had been looking for after their decision to replace first-season X Factor judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger. The offer also would catapult Spears to the top tier of reality series talent as it is in line with what Spears’ former Mickey Mouse Clubhouse cohort Christina Aguilera will be making on the third season of The Voice and just below the $12 million Jennifer Lopez received on American Idol last season.

The offer comes on the heels of a couple of public statements by Cowell in which he has been effusive in his praise for the Toxic singer as a prospective X Factor judge. “Are we flattered there would be interest from Britney Spears? Yes,” he said during a conference call two weeks ago. During a radio interview with Billy Bush last week, Cowell went further. “I’m fascinated by Britney,” he said. “The fact that she’s one of the most talked about — not just pop stars but people — in the world today, means that you’ve got this star power. This girl has resilience. I would think that if she’s managed to sustain a family, a career, which is tough, (X Factor would be) a walk in the park. I would be fascinated to hear what she has to say. She’s still hot, she’s still having hit records and she’s still controversial. There’s a reason for that.”

I Personally can not WAIT for her fascinating commentary. It will be even more fun when Simon hides her meds. nuts

I don't see how Shitney will add anything to the show. She'll be more nuts than Paula, unless they bump up the sedatives, in which case she'll be a zombie (as she is during her lip-synched performances). Also, since Shitney can't sing, I don't see her being critical of the contestants. I bet she'll be sweet as pie and just plain useless. Simon Cowell is just such a cancer to the music industry.

Why not get Toni Braxton? She can at least sing and needs the money lol

Brit is a fantastic idea for this show, just for sheer entertainment factor alone. Besides, she has a HUGE fanbase who will tune in religiously.

This is a win-win for all parties, IMHO.

I would agree seeing how fans of either obviously have no taste in music.

Britney is perfect. She'll obviously attract her tremendous base plus people beyond simply because she's Britney. Millions will tune in to see what she says, just to see what she wears, etc. She's charasmatic, and brings a bubbly personality. And now we have a competition. The Voice has Christina, Idol has Jennifer, but signing Britney Spears would eclipse both of them.

At least Toni could be taken seriously when giving out advice on singing.

She should do it.I get the feeling that Britney doesn't enjoy performing anymore. She's like a robot going through the motions.A high-profile TV gig would be perfect for her. She'll remain in the public eye without having to do much work.

She's not been the same since her double knee injury IRT dancing. A lot of people chalk it up to the anti-depressants or lack of interest, but really I just believe its a profound lack of real confidence. The injuries came right before her breakdown period which is why they tend to get lumped together.

People sleep on Britney but she has more a hand in her records than Madonna does.

A lot of contestants will go after Britney when they get not so flattering remarks from the judges. That happened with Paula on Idol and it's gonna be a whole lot worse for Britney when they point out that she doesn't realy have the pipes to be judging them biggrin

Not trying to throw shade on Brit but the comment that if she could maintain a career and family is not really accurate. Since she had problems doing just that.
