Shyne The Rapper Finds Order in Orthodox Judaism in Israel

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/11/11/arts/music/11shyne.html?pagewanted=all

Living as Moses Levi, an Orthodox Jew in Jerusalem (he legally changed his name from Jamaal Barrow), he shuttles between sessions of Talmud study with some of the most religiously stringent rabbis in the city and preparations for a musical comeback.

Nick Ashford was someone I greatly admired, had the honor of knowing, and was the real-life inspiration for Cowboy Curtis' hair. RIP Nick. - Pee Wee Herman

Is that Diddy with Shyne? You mean Shyne still associates with Diddy after how Diddy did him dirty?

I thought the Hassidim shut this guy down from rapping or maybe it was another one? Sems like there were a few Black guy converts who were also trying to rap.

I have a feeling this stuff doesn't go over too well, esp in Israel.

I know right. As Script said, why is he being pictured with Diddy OF ALL PEOPLE??? Has his religion charged him to forgive him? That I can understand, but to do more business with him is just plain ole dumb. With that said, the pic looks cunning as hell.

The fact that it's from 2010 makes it even funnier to get pulled up for by the OP. cool I did ask scriptgirl for the backstory, so I was trying! lol

My suggestion, if the OP wants this story read and commented on, go look at the "El in LA" thread, see how it's done, and post the story.

First of all, not everybody here at The Org is in the US. Secondly the NYT is indeed behind a paywall (as are many other newspapers)...I'm a member of the NYT site and I know this for a fact. You get X amount of stories for free per month and after that, your username and/or IP is blocked until the next month turns over.

Give me one good reason why I should lie about this?
