Check out this cool VooDoo documentary I found. I love when artists do these. My fave is Stevie Wonders when he first went to NY and recorded his legendary 70's material. I'd question why this isn't done more often but I already know the answer to that question; Only special albums warrant such documentation:

It's an unofficial release, a site-supported mixtape, if you will.

D’Angelo posing in Afro-Punk tee in Paris.

That's him now?

That looks like D'Angelo circa 2000. Boy bounced back!

nod

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

D'Angelo's closest rival in terms of talent and critical regard is The-Dream,

Really? I don't see that on any level. maybe I'm missing something?

You're not missing anything. The Dream is a contemporary R&B artist who has NEVER been trendsetting and has never been known as the father of anything other than his kid with Christina Milian. D"Angelo birthed a sub-genre. His live shows are strong and he plays multiple instruments LIVE.

I could see if the comparison was Van Hunt and D'Angelo, but NEVER The frickin' Dream.

I was at the Paris/Zenith gig and I can confirm it was an amazing show. It was better than his 2000 tour. He's now older, better and more interesting than 12 yrs ago. And his singing and piano playing is at an incredible level rightnow. Just check the solo set from the tube...

Having seen the last years Prince tour that's still fresh in my mind, which was quite remarkable tour in itself, i have to admit that seeing D'angelo in his present form it was something else completely.

It really was like seeing a genious at the top of his game, inspired and determined and willing to share it with the crowd. Just like Price....25 years ago. Or Sly around 1969-1971.

It's quite buzzling to see that kind of a mixture of geniosity, virtuosity and inspiration. Very very rare. Let's hope he keeps it going!
