He still has been missing in action 4 over 12 years. That is a FACT that can't be erased.

I'm loving the concert footage though.

Who cares how long he's been gone - he came back and kicked ass, that's all that matters.

Exactly. Mofos taking it personal like he better put something out or else. I said his new album will be a masterpiece yet unseen in the new millenium and I stand by it.

"The Charade" is a Masterpiece it reminds me of a Prince Parade song. Speaking of Prince I like how D used Prince's "Lady Cab Driver" in this live version of "Brown Sugar"....He has really made a comeback a real comeback unlike "Nippy"..

eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

Can't help but to think what this set would have sounded like with the gifted guitarist Jesse.Seems like Prince karma is @ it again....

Hopefully, Jesse still joins the band at a later time. Jef Lee Johnson is a damn good guitarist, though.

They ain't missing Jesse much at all. Listen to the songs and it is plain that Jesse would be sitting in the same spot musically as Jef. I think Jesse really wants to be out front. That is why he has left these last 2 projects. Good luck to him, but "The D experience" is not lessend by his absence.

Don't get me wrong. I'm a D stan/junkie and feel Voodoo was and still is an 'instant classic." He just need to stop copying Pfun, Prince etc. I mean "everyone is derivative of somebody"-Billy Joel but dman, this dude is obsessed...still!

He does seem like he tries a bit too much, but I really can't say anything. Prince is far from 100% original. lol

What is wrong with D paying homage to his musical idol? He still has his own sound.Plus has had two very successful albums in his own right. Stop hating & enjoy the purple funk...

Ok ok...

Zappa is on my Mount Rushmore....Period!

But what ?uest means is his originality in his solos (which can be disputed) but the fact of the matter is: D does have his own style--what will come of it, who knows?

Dont even start that shit please. Prince is 100% originalm in what he did. AND I said the Billy Joel comment about everyone being derivative of something to clarify. Yes, Prince had influences, but he was doing a lot of his own dman thing before they showed up and has several tours and releases before going whole hog on them. Dangelo on his second tour and only second release was already trying to repeat Prince and now he is continuing that tradition on his third. BIG DIFFERENCE.

Same here. Between him and Maxwell, 'things done changed.'

Im still pised he never released a Voodoo live dvd. But we all have the audio etc so I guess thats going to have to be good enough.

I wouldn't exactly say Prince is 100% in everything he did. Nobody is. Everyone has influences and draws from them and tries to repeat what they do. Prince in his early days was like that too. Let D'Angelo grow.

Honestly, I don't get why people's feathers get ruffled when you mention that Prince wasn't 100% original. There's nothing wrong with that. It is what it is. He had his influences just like D'Angelo has his.
