Yay, I love Pazz and Jop day!

And, yes, Tune-Yards killed it - best of album of the year by a long shot. I've been trying to turn people around here on to her, but no one ever responds! She's very funky, very creative - I can hear some Prince in the DNA

She definitely looks like the poster child for hipster ick - but when you see her peform, it all feels much more genuine. I end up dancing at her shows more than I do anywhere else all year.

Thought we were all music fans here - biggrin

no thoughts on the list anyone? Not a good showing for hip hop this year, that's for sure. I don't get the Drake thing. At All.

I'm guessing most here didn't listen to the music on the list. lol I don't understand why Drake's on that list if I'm reading your statement right.

I bought the Tune-Yards album after reading this thread. It's wacky. But I do like it.

The face does not go with the voice at all though. I always picture some African lady singing when I listen to the album.

I only bought two albums last year, one of them being Bill Callahan's record which made a respectable showing on the poll.

The p&j poll used to be a very big deal for me, before I became old and tired. lol

Hah, I've become old and tired too, but in a different way. I used to be a lot more into chart music, reading Billboard regularly, etc., but now the Hot 100 turns me off for the most part. I'm happy listening to my indie bands that don't get played on the radio.
