I like this song. A lot. My favorite song from that album is:

with this

a close second.

Awesome album!

So glad to see other Rufus fans here.

Since Prince lost his way (just my opinion) Rufus is the one artist who makes me shiver with excitement when a new album is due. There's so much going on with him including his foray into opera and his American songbook interpretations.

I've have thought for some time how all the things that I admire about Rufus - his refusal to be tied to one genre, the unusual structure of his songs which are so personal, a vulnerable soul with a grandiose manner - all remind me of P.

Of course, the one way that they are absolutely opposite is whereas Prince remains silent, for the most part, Rufus seems more than happy to discuss his life and work with anyone who asks. Boundaries/No boundaries - both interesting.

Anyway, Poses is such a lovely song from this album. I'd post it if I knew how. sad

I like his songwriting and his music, but it is hard for me to listen to his singing. Maybe I will get past that some day, but I feel like he needs to enunciate or something, and sing from his gut.

I know what you mean. I have looked up lyrics on a number of occasions because he had such a drawling kind of style. But - it's getting much better and I think it started improving when he stopped his drug using.

Listen to Martha from his last album if you haven't heard it yet.

Rufus is notorious in Chicago for being the only person to actually get kicked out of a shitty hole in the wall gay bar back in the early 90's.

Yeah - from what I've heard he reached a real low point around the time of his Want albums. Well more than a low point, rock bottom I'd say.

Even more reason to celebrate such a unique artist!
