He probably was on the cusp of leaving the group anyway about this time. Keep On Running came out in 1967 and he formed Traffic either that year or the following one.

He and Prince are my two musical idols and how surprised was I when both were inducted into the RRHoF the same year.

Whoops! I tried googling the lineup but couldn't find definitive info. I just assumed it was Mason.
