This song turned me into a Tina Turner fanatic! So it's Tina all the way for me!!!

Al Green!

Teena's is good, but she turned it into a pop song and I like the grittiness of the original.

I dig the music in Al's version more so I prefer his take on the song.

I completely disagree. I believe that Virginia Bruce was the first person to record "I've Got You Under My Skin" but few people would argue that her version is superior to the version that Frank Sinatra recorded roughly twenty years later.

I would argue that Stevie Wonder's original version of "Until You Come Back To Me (That's What I'm Gonna Do)" sounds like a demo when compared to Aretha's version.

Most people probably think that Al Green's take on "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart" is the definitive version and easily tops the original by the Bee Gees.

What about "Nothing Compares 2 U?" When Prince performs that song live it is much closer to Sinead O'Connor's cover than it is to the original version by the Family.

Generally I agree with you and I usually prefer the original version but there are times when a cover is superior.

I actually never heard Al's version until years after Tina recorded it. Al's version is okay but didn't move me the way Tina's did. I think that was Tina's most soulful performance as a solo artist. So, for me, this is a case where the remake is far superior to the original.

I heard Al's version long before I ever knew who Tina Turner was and still love it, to this day.

But Tina's version is the one that I vibe with the most, so my vote goes to hers.

Yeah, Al's version is an outright classic, don't get me wrong, but hearing Tina's just does something to me Al's don't. smile
