Jesus and Mary Chain

What would music be without this album?

Discuss!

Not really a fan, but they are a big influence on bands I like a lot: Dum Dum Girls, Raveonettes, etc.

I love them.

Psychocandy is a monster of an album, and on the sleevenotes of their recent album reissues, they say that the interest in Psychocandy often overshadowed their other albums.

Imo, none of their subsequent albums sounded as intense as Psychocandy, but that is no bad thing. Darklands, Automatic and Honey's Dead are all great albums, with some great songs.

Their b-sides and rarities collection "The Power Of Negative Thinking" was/is a brilliant release, though the recent cd reissues include a lot of the essential b-sides, demos and rare tracks, radio sessions etc.

Great band.

OOPS!

haha I just really got into this album after my friend made me listen to it on vinyl. It's crazy how forward thinking it is.

Yeah, and to think it's more than 20 years old.

You should check out My Bloody Valentine, their album "Loveless" has a similar sound to Psychocandy, but it's even more claustrophobic, it has real beauty underneath the noise though.

I LOVE My Bloody Valentine, Loveless is the most beautiful noise I've ever heard. Only Shallow gives me emotions like no other song.

Now there's a band I love. So much so that I risked letting my ears bleed when I saw them live a few years ago. Loudest show ever.

I remember you talking about that before. I would have loved to have seen them live.
