That is not a young Little Richard...

...It's Frank "Sugar Chile" Robinson doing Caldonia and that clip is from the 1946 movie "No Leave, No Love".

Yeah Little Richard's professional career didn't start until he was 18.

  • Judy Garland
  • Frankie Lymon
  • "Little" Stevie Wonder
  • Michael Jackson
  • Tevin Campbell
  • Christina Aguilera
  • Aretha Franklin (find "Never Grow Old" and "Precious Love" which she recorded at 14 and tell me I'm lying)
  • Shanice Wilson

I would say Clyde McPhatter since his first professional records were at the age of 17 ("Do Something for Me") but I don't think he qualifies... same with Little Willie John but maybe they do I don't know, what you guys think?

I did hear Little Richard was a prodigy on the piano but unfortunately there's no footage of him doing anything pre-18 years old. confused

Also, y'all also fail to mention this great child singer:

SEVEN YEARS OLD!!!!

Since Patti Austin performed at The Apollo Theater at the age of 4 (and lived to tell about it)...

...and was taken under the wings of Dinah Washington and Sammy Davis Jr., she had to be killing it.

And even though there's no footage of him, but little Ronald Isley was not so shabby himself as a kid. LIKE Patti, he also sung in front of Dinah Washington. I don't know if he sang with her but apparently Dinah was impressed. He was so impressive as a kid that once when he sang at a church talent showcase, he won a $25 war bond! And of course he was still a kid when the Isleys began recording (15, 16-ish).

Don't think it was Dyson. It was a group like Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers.
