Uh-oh! You about to start some mess up in here! Tina has her fans but they can't go up against Aretha's fans. Personally, if I had to choose, it would be hard for me to do so. They both have contributed so much to Soul/R&B music and have both influenced me a great deal. Aretha is the most eclectic of the two and Tina kinda lost me after "Break Every Rule" when she decided not to really record R&B anymore but still it would be a very hard decision for me to make between the two. i don't like to compare artists really. they both are legendary and deservingly so. HOWEVER..
I'LL TAKE TINA ALL DAY EVERYDAY!!! one of the best shows i've ever been to. I have a 2 disc set of Aretha's 'hits' and that's sufficient for me. with TINA, i buy each release!! to me she's always been more electrifying. vocally more raw and powerful. both women are soulful, but Tina, to me, is coming right from the gut. and i feel there's more versatility. no right or wrong. to each their own. so i choose TINA!!!

Yesterday I was forced to watch The Blues Bros (hate that movie). and I though: this movie NEEDS Tina. The Aretha performance was ok

Tina is a very cool lady and I'm an bigger fan of hers than Aretha, but there is no way in hell she's a better singer than Aretha. No way in hell!!

say what??
Tina has one the BEST voices of ALL TIME. If she had been born 2000 years ago, the Romans would have made her their "Empress", lol

Yes, Tina does have a great voice, no doubt about that. I love her. But, Aretha has the better, more pure voice - IMHO.

Yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssss! I agree!
Aretha is great, but I never was a big fan. She has not such charizmа, like Tina!

I think there are a few other female singers that are better than Aretha. I don't know if I would say Tina Turner is one of them. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

Tina Turner (born Annie Mae Bullock) and Aretha Louise Franklin are two very different performers. One's a hell of a singer/pianist/songwriter, another one's a hell of a singer/dancer/entertainer. One's from Memphis by way of Detroit, another's from Nutbush by way of St. Louis. One's the Queen of Soul, another's the Queen of Pop/Rock. The only similarity they have is their careers have surpassed the 50th year date. Otherwise, I can take Tina and Aretha as a night and day thing. They're both great. [Edited 9/30/11 10:58am]

I appreciate both artists;both enriched with talent. Love Tina's rock-soul vibe and love Aretha's deep-down soul vibe. [Edited 9/30/11 11:28am]

Tina is great but come on.....Aretha is the Queen I have only one Tina Turner CD in my collection ('Private Dancer') while I have at least a dozen Aretha Franklin albums.
So,for me,Aretha wins this battle
