Jody Watley - Off The Hook / Lovin' You So

Off The Hook

Lovin' You So

Yeah...I dare somebody accuse of her being a copycat of another singer who shall remain nameless.

mushy @ "Lovin' You So" and its slight interpolation of Rufus' "Pack'd My Bags".

She should have still had hits in the 90's. I remember hearing of Flower/Off The Hook in 98' mentioned in magazines, but don't remember it playing or airing at all. Off The Hook is a decent song with a pretty video. It's no different from videos Toni Braxton and J LO did a few years after her. I was going to buy the Dr. Doolittle soundtrack back then for Aaliyah and Ginuwine, now I wish I did.

Jody got into conflict with Atlantic over the album... apparently Atlantic wanted her to record a Shalamar duet on the album but she refused. I'm thinking this is a reason why that album was only issued in Europe and Japan.

Oh yeah, I do remember someone saying it was just released in Europe and me getting worried at the time that if anything like that happens to Madonna and Janet, they will just release in Europe too, forgot about that

I do remember seeing some Rakim duet, or maybe it was Off The Hook the single being sold here though in a bargain bin, but then again, we do have a lot of imports here.

Rakim was on the remix of "Off the Hook".

It is available on iTunes here in the states now. Not sure when it was posted on there, though. They have that as well as the 12in single for "Friends" under Jody.

Nah you weren't lol in fact they did a remix video together. It was on BET all the time. I guess the remix was meant to reach younger fans. It reached me because I loved it but I was mad when I heard Flower wasn't available in the U.S. because I was sure to cop it. lol

Yeah not surprised it's available on there. Once I get the hang of iTunes, I might just buy it with a gift card. lol

I watched BET ALL the time that year and taped songs, but honestly do not remember the remix or I would have taped it. Maybe I just didn't like the intro and tuned it out or something, cause I liked this version that was posted. That was the time BET first came here and was still good before Viacom took over, or maybe the video wasn't allowed to be shown here.

They only released the remix video in the U.S. so no it probably wasn't available in your country.
