I've always loved 'Sabotage' but otherwise haven't been to keen on them, any suggestions for me?

I've always had a mini crush on Ad-Rock

No I've heard of them, Sabotage is just the only song I really dig from them. Never like Fight For you Right or Brass Monkey.

Weird Al also does Intergalactic in one of his polka medleys. biggrin

Funny how Weird Al's career has lasted longer than a lot of the performers he parodied! lol

There's been several Beastie threads here lately. That's probably why no one is paying attention to this one. They already responded to the other ones. You should do a search before starting a thread. It's not like they're Michael Jackson in that people will repond no matter how many threads are created. lol

The thing I don't understand now is after watching them in concert (on TV, that is) is whenever they do their rap thing, the crowd goes berzerk, but when they pick their instruments, the crowd quiets down, with the exception of Sabotage.

Been a diehard fan since License To Ill, which is like, 25 years ago. Been listening to the Beastie Boys almost as long as I've been listening to Prince. I love them. I love that they've changed over the years but are still clearly the Beastie Boys.

However, while I can still get way into all the older stuff (especially Check Yo Head and Ill Communication), I find it much more difficult to really love the last two albums. I dug what To The 5 Burroughs was about and I enjoyed that they took the beats back to an early electro hip-hop sound, but I still don't think its a great album. The new album, for as long as it took to get it done (regardless of the health issues), didn't really frost my pickle. Its good, and I can feel the magic trying to creep in, but again, not great.

I'll always be a fan and I'll always support them (including going to live shows if they ever tour again), but I think my real deep love for them probably ended with Hello Nasty.

Edit: Yeah, edit.

I really got in to Paul's Boutique when it came out in 89. I must have played that cassette out, some very cool jams on there. I always that Paul's was a better album than License. I recently found out they came out with a 20 year reissue of some sort that included a Paul's Botique t-shirt. Now I've been on a search for an extra large. All the web sites it hit are sold out!

It's been said many times but Paul's Boutique is one of the best albums of all time. Even greats like Miles Davis have mentioned it as so cool, just a fantastic sounding album.

Hell yeah, I pulled this out bout 2 weeks ago for some reason and it still holds up amazingly well. I was/am not a big BB fan but this disc is one helluva an album.
