I never liked Robert Palmer's cover. I don't think the song works from a male point of view. I don't like Robert Palmer in general.

I like Robert Palmer but I never really liked his remakes....or the fact that he would release them so soon after the original versions.

Cherrelle easily. I love the Minneapolis synths and the last few minutes of the extended version are killer.

...Not even "All My Life" ?! eek

I don't know the names of the songs or remember what they sound like, as I only heard them once (when the album came out). That was because my cousin had it. I saw the movie once too, so maybe I heard some of the songs twice. lol

You might want to check out the Rick James written "All My Life" and "Want You"..that could have easily been an Alexander O'Neal and Cherrelle cut.

Not even "Tell Me I'm Not Dreaming"? I mean, if you think "I Didn't Mean to Turn You On" doesn't make sense from a guy's perspective; surely you'd concede the former makes more sense as a male-female duet, right?

Identity

Nothing comes near the original by Cherrelle.

No specific reason. I don't think he's terrible. He just does nothing for me.

I agree with u as far as Cherrelle's version. I love it and I'll pick that one overall. Robert's version is a beast also. I like his cover of the song. It's cool.

I loved Palmer's version. And like someone said earlier, it was more soulful music coming from Palmer's cover.

But it did seem strange coming from male POV. But I still liked it better.

Palmer is one of the few that I appreciate covering songs.

I didn't know about his cover of the System "In my System".

CHERRELLE!!! She has such a cutesy, perky delivery and I LOVE the way she sounds with Flyte Tyme! Robert Palmer never did much for me vocally except for "Addicted to Love."

Hungry? Just look in the mirror and get fed up.
