Kanye takes a tumble in Norway

Kanye West comes a cropper on stage again... but this time he actually falls flat on his face

He's renowned for being gaffe-prone on stage, but instead of putting his foot in his mouth last night, Kanye West took an actual tumble.

The 34-year-old hip hop legend was performing to a crowd in Bergen, Norway when he hit the deck, and it was quite a fall.

It makes a change from all the many times that West has stormed off stage, been ordered off stage or had his microphone cut... yes, usually on stage, over the years.

But these incidents were at awards ceremonies, and West is less inclined to throw a tantrum when all the attention is on him.

The College Dropout star probably regretted having an audience for the first time in his life last night, however, as many captured the fall.

It all started when the flamboyant performer - who was dressed soberly in jeans, white shirt and trainers - undertook a patented performance move beloved of all stars, we think the technical term is 'showing off.'

Feeling the love from the crowd in Bergen, Norway, the rap star lifted himself up on his toes before starting to gently po-go.

But when he attempted to become more vigorous, the star keeled over and slammed into the stage.

A host of flashing camera phones quickly added to the already impressive light show backing the talented star.

Kanye can console himself with the fact that he is not alone.

In April, Lady Gaga toppled over in Houston, and just last month Shania Twain came a cropper at the CMT Awards.

Back in 2004, singer Ryan Adams actually fell of the stage in Liverpool and broke his wrist, though just like Kanye, he tried to go on with the show.

The rest of the week should be better for West, as his new video with Jay Z, premieres on MTV later in the week.

You can see Otis on Thursday at 8:56 p.m. ET/PT on MTV, MTV2, mtvU, MTV.com and BET.

On Wednesday's RapFix Live, Sway Calloway sat down with New York's Power 105.1 radio host Angela Yee and MTV News' Rob Markman to discuss the just-released teaser for the Spike Jonze-directed video.

'You can see Jay-Z looks excited, doing things I never seen him do before in that one second — and Kanye as well,' Yee said of the brief clip.

'Well, Kanye is always a little excited, but I think it's good to see the two of them together too.'

The 15-second clip shows Jay-Z and Kanye West on set with pyrotechnics and not much else.

Viewers see Jay gripping his red cap low and then Kanye screaming with excitement while grabbing the camera with a huge American flag draped in the background.

I'm not even sure why the media is typing up articles on this? Since when is people tripping and falling, 'News'.

Looks like he tripped or slipped on something. And Jay-Z didn't go over to help or anything or at least ask dude if he was okay. confused

I'm kinda disturbed and weirded-out by the way people are so quick to whip out phones and start filming shit whenever something embarassing or bad happens to somebody.

^^ That's the new millennium for ya... but then again, I know people were typing stories about superstars falling like when newspapers were hot, like during the time Michael and Prince and 'em were hot. I still remember seeing archives here about Prince and him being upset at the audience not being totally into his show, this was probably during the Lovesexy tour in the U.S. so topics like that do occur.

I don't ever remember seeing any news articles anyplace about MJ and Prince falling, not from legitimate, serious papers.

If you look at the audience they still jamming while he fell....confuse But what in the hell did he slip on? And also, y'all are right, why is it when an artist makes any kind of mistake or accident on stage, there's someone with their cell phone video taping it, just itching to get it on youtube when they get home? disbelief

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

The thing is, the person couldn't have just grabbed his/her phone JUST to capture him falling. A fall is too quick to start recording as it happens. There was a bit of song before he fell... That person just happened to be taping and caught it.

When I saw Kem @ MSG Theater in February, Musiq Soulchild fell off the stage. I joked to my friend that it would be on YouTube before the show was over. Sure enough, it was.

It may not be "news", but people like to share this sort of stuff... shrug

because people are dumb-asses by in large, the public loves this crap because it makes them feel better to watch others have so called "reality" moments. Thats why reality tv does well, because most people are just too stupid to actually watch tv shows with real writers and stories, they like to see Kim Kardashian fight with her boyrfiend or Toni Braxto fight with her sisters, and they think that its real and yet its the fakest shit ever.

also the reason this crap gets traction is that WE all gave license to things like the slime at TMZ and the fat bastard Perez hilton, we gave them all "cred" and turned off real news, so while the world collapses and we are in 3 wars now, and 30 troops were just killed for no reason, we somehow are more concerned with Kanye West.
