Yeah, that happens to me alot. It's like the more an artist is shoved down my throat, the more I avoid them.

Alicia Keys is a big one from recent years. I probably would be a fan if the overexposure and hyping weren't so extreme that it left a permanent bad taste in my mouth. Which, I'm not blaming her for because it probably wasn't her fault.

Same thing for Beyonce.

I have not heard a Beyonce song since "Single Ladies" in 2008. What are you people doing that her music is being shoved down your throats?

Every time I hop in the car with someone and they have it set to a general R&B station, I end up hearing her, same for Alicia.

I see. It's a shame that people are still slaves to radio these days.

I Won't lie and i'm not afraid of a backlash because i am simply stating my opinion wink

I am so tired of Michael Jackson... since 09 the over exposure level for the man has taken a leap of 10,000 plus 3000 million pepsis and heroin all mixed in. eek

I mean some people act like Michael was the greatest thing not person, i mean person or thing that was ever created and graced the planet earth and nobody is better.

I mean i love MJ but i can not listen to him much anymore like the media and his crazy fans have killed it for me a bit lol

That's fair enough, your opinion is yours.

Were you around for Motown25, the 'Thriller' video release and the Victory tour?

Cause as i recall, he was way bigger then.

nope! was born in 90 right before Dangerous came out

By 1984, MJ was overexposed. Singles from Thriller were still doing well, he was the guest vocalist on 'Somebody's Watching Me' and 'Tell Me I'm Not Dreamin'' and then The Jacksons' Victory album came out. He was EVERYWHERE.

MJ was over exposed, but he lived up to the hype. HE had talent to back it up.

So i wouldn't mind MJ being over exposed. lol

It's interesting to note that,'Thriller' had seven singles but there were only three music videos from that album. He refused to appear in any videos from the 'Victory' project. It seems that he was trying his best to avoid overexposure.,which wasn't easy for him to do.These days,an artist like Beyonce will make a video for every song on her album, lol.

No, because by the time an artist gets to be overexposed, I've already made up my mind whether I like them or not. If I do, I don't care if they are all over the place because I'm happy for them. If I already didn't like them, I just pay them no mind.

I never remember acts like Madonna, Prince and MJ doing this. Sure, Prince released an album every year, but he made it a point to just keep spins on the radio while doing a few appearances and a few print things. Now, companies utilize every avenue they can (including slurpee cups).

You bring up a good point. These days, there are so many more ways for an artist to "expose" their music to the public.Back in the 80s,you released an album,a few singles and videos.Much of your exposure was limited to MTV and radio stations. These days, you got ringtones, deluxe editions of albums (featuring even more songs),Youtube, the Internet, etc. Then you got all these "artists" who aren't content to simply overexpose their music. They got their own clothing lines, perfumes, movie deals, etc.Beyonce makes it hard to "ignore' her, even if you wanted to.

I used to love both Sade and Anita Baker but stopped listening to them because, here in Michigan, they are way over-exposed on Urban Adult Contemporary radio. Have been for many years. You can not turn on an Urban AC station in Detroit for more than an hour without hearing one or both of them. So, yeah, overposure killed my love for these two artists. The same thing was happening with Luther but it seems like after he passed, the local radio stations don't play his music nearly as much.

ITS NOT THAT SERIOUS!!!

and maybe you been listening to much to lady gaga for you to even take offence at what i said.

again its not that serious. and I don't care if it was 3011, there is such thing as Subliminal messaging and Voodoo witch craft.

what i said was not stupid, HOW you responded it stupid, and how ignorant you are. Just how you think people who believe that occult/demonic stuff to be true are crazy, there are others who think people like you are SHEEPLE, IGNORANT, BLIND, and just go along with any kind of agenda, and they feel sorry for you. razz

lol you know gaga is pretty much ill to me but come on...What the hell is witchcraft anyway? Come down to earth already!!

why not you come down to earth, get outside of your bubble, and learn somethings. lol

if you haven't heard of witch craft, then you really need to just get out in the world, maybe pick up a book, have you read harry potter lol

@ OP I don't think overexposure is the problem because you can always find the way to cut the commercial hype out of your life...like you can stop watching TV and listening to the radio for a little while maybe? I usually struggle with being addicted to one artist or one album for few weeks or months and eventually make myself tired of my favorite artist...so it's 100% my fault...
