Lenny Kravitz has announced details of a new solo album and a one-off gig in London.

The singer is set to release his ninth studio album Black And White America on August 22. The record will be preceded by the first single titled 'Stand', which is due out on June 6. Tracks slated to appear on the follow-up to his 2008 album It Is Time For A Love Revolution include 'Come On Get It', 'Do It', 'The Faith Of A Child', 'Super Love' and 'Dream'.

Kravitz has also announced plans to play a one-off show at London's Hammersmith Apollo on October 27. Tickets will go on sale on June 6.

Hmm...this seems interesting! Haven't been interested in Kravitz's music since the release of Greatest Hits from 2000. Didn't pick up Lenny, Baptism or It's Time For A Love Revolution. Heard that this new release is a double album. Wonder how this is gonna go!

As "funky" as Lenny gets.....I do believe this is the same said project. Either way, I'm predicting this thing is gonna be HUGE....better than "5". Flame away.

5 is such a great album

It seems like this keeps getting pushed back. I remember him doing a red carpet interview for the Oscars (I think) and he said it would be out in July. I also think at the end of last year they were supposed to released it earlier this year. Either way, Lenny is super hot and I hope the album does well, love you Lenny :X

Hardly. But then again, that's not Lenny's M.O.. He has his "moments" (many)..but "great" albums?

That's highly debatable. "5" was merely his biggest non-compilation release.

Every snippet & advance I've heard from this current project sound pretty solid, IMO.

Lenny either make a funk album or don't but at least I have something to tide me over.

I think his funk album should be a compilation of the funkiest songs from all of his albums. I've already did it and it works for me.

Looks like he's making his old music funkier here...get ready for his upcoming tour...

I'm a big fan of the guy but I'm afraid you're right. He seems to be saying less and less with every record.

I'd like him to get brave and try to write about something with a little depth

Lenny has been talking about a "funk" record since 1995 and still hasn't released it. I think it's his label that doesn't want him to do it. I've stopped holding my breath.

I stopped buying Lenny's music since the "5" CD. Everything after that has been pretty bland and safe. He needs to work with new producers and let his entire band play on the record for once.

Me too and I do feel the same way about his music post-5. It has sounded all too redundant and safe, whereas on his earlier stuff, we at least got small glimpses of his range. Hopefully with this new album, he pushes the "restart" button as it pertains to his music career and comes out with some killer shit.

Im a little wary due to that Jeep commercial he got going right now. The song playing sounds awful. Was not a big fan of his last one either. WTF Lendog? Please come with it this time ala the funk inspired one you've been promising since forever-eva.

I don't know, I like the song. And it's one endorsement I can get behind. Jeeps are cool

Great sounds and production from him once more, but I don't really care for that vocal mannerism of his that he uses for the chorus. Why does he use that thing so much? He sounds like a set of bagpipes when he does those long notes.

I think a hi-hat or ride pattern would've helped the song move a little. Other than that, I'm digging it.
