You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

In all seriousness...

I think I have everything Jermaine ever recorded to vinyl because overall, I thought he was a talent and recorded some damn good music. Everyone has theories to why his career floundered; I'm not sure we shall ever know. He and many members of his family seem to have problems with the truth. Maybe I'm being a little harsh, truth can be how you view things from your perspective. shrug

Did his career really flounder of did he simply retire from the music business? He hasn't released any new music in 19 years. Would I be correct in presuming he hasn't been performing live much, if at all, in this time?

Jermaine didn't retire, his career stalled because of lack luster record sales; with the exception of "Less Get Serious" his album sales were pretty middle of the road to mediocre. He also seemed obessed with you know who records sales instead of concentrating on his own career. Hey, if you don't sale you don't have a career.... I wouldn't be surprised he couldn't get or find a record deal either.

come on now, he had some success since lets get serious. he was signed to arista and had a couple pretty good albums for them. he was also involved in whitney houston's career in the beginning. i remember jermaine was on one of my favorite soap operas and he had whitney on with him sort of introducing her.
