I think that it is only fair to point out that The Fame has been on the charts for 135 weeks. That is very rare these days. It's easy for a major artist to debut at number one but it is much trickier to stay on the charts for any length of time. Will Born This Way have a similar chart life? Maybe, maybe not but I think it's ridiculous that people are already calling it a failure because it sold less copies in its second week. Every album does that! If it is still on the charts two years from now then I think it's fair to call it a success.

It's also interesting to note that The Fame "only" got as high as number two. Is it a failure for not reaching number one and falling off the charts in ten weeks or is it a massive success for staying on the charts for two and a half years and selling millions of copies?

Lady Gaga horrified as bodyguard reportedly `roughs up` a fan

By Lee Brown Jun 8, 2011, 15:57 GMT

One of Lady Gaga's bodyguards is being accused of 'roughing up' a fan - much to the pop superstar's horror.

Gaga was at a party thrown for her in a New York hotel when a fan took a picture of her with a phone as she came down the hotel stairs.

An onlooker told Page Six: 'One of her over-protective security guards started roughing him up. He pushed the guy up the stairs, grabbed his phone and threw it, then dragged him back up onto the roof.'

Upon seeing the scuffle, the onlooker insisted: 'Gaga told her guard, 'What are you doing? Leave him alone'.'

The source added that Gaga 'looked embarrassed and shook her head' at the ordeal.

A Gaga spokesperson did not get back to Page Six for comment, and an event rep had no comment.

Gaga was honoured with the Fashion Icon Award at the Council of Fashion Designers of America awards gala and the incident allegedly happened at the afterparty.

Is this the same event that Gaga and Patti LaBelle were photographed at together? Kind of eerie that they are both having "problems" with their body guards assaulting people. Maybe other celebrities should steer clear of Patti for a while?

The really sad thing is that the fan that was roughed up is a huge fan of the song "I Like It Rough." wink

Too soon?

Not surprised by the large drop in sells. I don't care how big of a star someone is, pop music just does not sell like it used to. Which explains why the likes of Adele and Taylor Swift continue to to flourish why the Gagas and Britneys fail. Hell, Rihanna and Katy all have a shitload of #1 hits yet their albums have barely cracked a million worldwide lol I think people are just making it a big deal just because Gaga is the biggest star on the earth right now and people just want to see her crumble.

And with all that said.

I FUCKING LOVE THIS CD. my favs in no real order:

Marry The Night

Government Hooker

Judas

Sheiße

Bloody Mary

Black Jesus + Amen Fashion

Heavy Metal Lover

Electric Chapel

You and I

The Edge of Glory

pray

I don't even think it's that. Honestly, nobody's pulling in the numbers that musicians used to, because of downloading. It's a whole different ballgame now.

Born This Way ain't over yet. It's 2nd week sales look like a normal record to me. That's how people debut on the charts normally - with ~150k sales. BTW's 2nd week take in was 174k hardgoods, 38k softgoods. If people wanna shit on that, I'd like to see THEIR bank accounts.

Usually when someone talks about someone "flopping" in their second week, that's usually a sign of someone who still hasn't recovered from the recession lol

Gaga said she wanted to do a video for black jesus on her twitter and I liked the beat to judas it's not trash just not all that.

I like Marry the night not sure if she's going to release it .

[Edited 5/30/11 13:54pm]

Yeah Judas has a good beat, it's still disjointed as hell though. I would think the next single would be Bloody Mary.

Are you guys serious? eek

i will give her credit in that at least her tv appearances for some of the same songs is different as u pointed out about her doing EOG on AI is different from this performance. The piano segment of born this way is similar to how she was doing either pokerface or bad romance. but yeah she should have done Scheibe instead

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81
