As for Surface i liked the majority of their music but there

were a few nauseating songs like Shower Me With Your Love.

Like Lionel Richie, Kool & The Gang, and Atlantic Starr, they were going for the crossover and adult contemporary market.

True nod that's why I like their first album so much.It's solid R&B.The "crossover" stuff came later.
