My oldest brother (who has passed) LOVED this band.

They were absolutely funky so much that he created his own band with that image.

This topic make me have mix emotions but I'm always glad to see folks appreciating some REAL TALENT.

I'm sorry about your brother

He had every reason to love August Darnell and the band. They exuded every aspect of talent imaginable IMO, gained or natural; charisma, clever lyrics, tight musicianship, showmanship and versatility.

I'll be glad to see the day when folks - in the states for a change - embrace that band. I'm happy they're really revered in Europe though.

I've only checked their taped live performances. My father used to be a huge fan of them though, from the early days of Dr.Buzzard's Original Savannah Band, and he and his friends used to always check out their gigs in NYC.
