I was a little surprised that Bruno Mars wasn't one of the choices for Best New Artist.

Clive Davis named Janelle Monae his best new artist at his annual Grammy Gala in Beverly Hills tonight!

At least Clive got the memo. Wish the Grammys did.

Hoping Sade and Monica win.

Monica deserves R&B female. Don't expect her to win R&B album though.

Sade is up for Pop duo/group with "Babyfather" and R&B duo/group with "Soldier Of Love". Their album was shut out sadly.

Is Janelle Monae a new artist? Last I understood that her first album came out in 2006 and she had an EP released in 2007, with her "debut" coming out last year. That's 3 albums...three albums!

I'm really looking forward for Janelle to win something, but I seriously feel as though they are gonna overlook her once again. She was snubbed from the top awards, which is crazy. The ArchAndroid was one of the greatest albums that came out last year, but it wasn't noticed by everyone.

I'm don't think I'm tuning in tonight though!

As people are constantly talking about the Aretha tribute, I wonder if Lady T is gonna get some kind of tribute. Probably not, just a thought!

I hope Ms. Franklin's tribute is good. She deserves it. I hope they choose the right songs for the right singers. If not it could be disastrous. confused

I hope Janelle Monae turns it out though, if she performs. I hope she gets the attention artists like her deserve, but often get overlooked. Maybe she'll even win an award tonight. Although she could have been nominated more, I think she should at least win for Contemporary R&B Album.

Regarding that Aretha tribute, I just heard that Christina is gonna be doing "Ain't No Way." *Coughs & chokes*

Regarding Janelle, she is gonna be the only one that I'm really looking forward to seeing, if I watch the Grammys tonight. She should win Contemporary R&B Album (which really should've been R&B Album, if you ask me), but I think they are just gonna give it Usher's crappy ass.

Yeah, I hear ya on them limiting her to the R&B categories. I found it more Pop (which oonsist of all popular music styles) or Alternative suited more than just Contemporary R&B. But, I'm sure she'll take it if they give it to her. The NARAS really suck.

Maybe her sales will skyrocket after a showstopping performance. Here's the next question: What would you recommend she perform? One song or a medley of songs from the album?

She should shock the hell out of them and do "BaBopBye Ya," "Cold War," "Locked Inside" and "Mushrooms & Roses." Especially for those folks who haven't even heard the whole album or not at all. This performance should be the talk of the town afterwards, hopefully!

Thats a nice variety of the songs from her album. I was thinking a solid medley would be the way to go too. This will be her biggest televised audience as far as I know. Might as well take full advantage of it and slay the stage and all witnesses.

Okay, now I'm watching the pre-red carpet live and someone just arrived in a green egg, carried by half-naked men and a lady dressed in a long dress. I'm thinking it must be Lady Gaga in that egg.
