Eh it's cool. It's not the end of the world. I actually don't mind him on vocoder.

It doesn't sound like a vocoder to me. A vocoder sounds like a robot voice (ie. Freak A Zoid, Rockit). I can still hear George's voice on this song.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Yeah it may be autotune now that I hear it but it's whatever. lol

I was excited before I heard it, but disappointed after hearing the sample. I'll be skipping this one.

I didn't know he was working on new music either, that's great!

He didn't need that affect, but it's beautiful!

His take of autotune actually reminded me of when Bon Iver used it on "Woods" (almost). So I like it. shrug

OK seriously, I'm like 10 secs into the song and totally not getting the autotune...on the other hand I'm finding it amusing, since we know he doesn't need to depend on it.

I'll have to listen to it a few times or take it in the context of a whole album. hmmm

He sounds like a drunk robot. lol

i couldn't take it... the autotune was driving me crazy. george michael, WHAT are you doing??!! i'm actually not into new order (or that song), but hearing the 'cover' made me actually like the new order version.

and STEVIE uses autotune here too (why, i will never know- he's sung the song live and it's perfectly fine), but it doesn't get too much in the way of the song.

Autotune is for singers who....can't sing.

And GM can sing his ass off so what the fuck?

Autotune started out as a pitch correction tool, nowadays is also used setted to the extreme in order to obtain the robotic voice effect you can hear in this GM song, like it or not it's just another effect like delays, reverbs and stuff like that.

I loved 'Listen Without Prejudice' and 'Older.' Unfortunately, for me, the autotune/ vocoder - whatever the hot mess is - simply hurts my ears. I was just about to hit 'stop' when, thankfully, the snippet faded. Real shame as I feel without the vocal effect this would be pleasant listening. neutral
