Rock & Roll Hall of Fame to honor women artists

Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame to honor female artists CLEVELAND – The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum says it will open the world's first exhibit devoted to rock's most influential female artists. The show opening May 13 at the museum in Cleveland will feature women ranging from Billie Holiday and Aretha Franklin to Melissa Etheridge and Lady Gaga. "Women Who Rock: Vision, Passion, Power" will spotlight more than 50 female artists and fill two floors of the hall with artifacts and video telling the story of how women have shaped the history of popular music. Throughout the year, the museum will offer educational programming on the role women have played in rock and roll. A benefit concert is planned for May 14. Performers will include Cyndi Lauper and Wanda Jackson.

Hhmmm.

How many female artists have been inducted into the Hall of Fame?

Still never ceases to amaze me how sexist the world still is.

As James Brown said, "It's a man's world..." Rock and Roll as a genre and culture is a male dominated thing. Until women close their legs and use their snatches to political power advantage - then nothing will change. On second thought, since men fool around sexually with each other on the low-low, I guess things wouldn't change LOL.

Seriously women could have the power, but they still are in fear of men.

That song was written by a woman though.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Red

Lady GaGa? shake

I predict this woman will fall as fast as she rose. I'm not a hater, I understand the energy and I do think she has talent, but the whole scene is so manuafactured and I hate what it stands for. 60 years roughly - and all the Hall of Fame can come up with is GaGa?

Proves my point - she, like most women thinks it is their job to please a man and be submissive to them.

HEART needs to be in before anyone gets in. Ann Wilson is hands down the best female rock vocalist ever and still cant be touched live

yeah its all political, the problem is, and i honestly believe this, was that they had those big ballads and success in the 80's, had Heart disappeared at the end of the 70's and not come back, they would been in by now, i seriously think writers that vote, hate them because of the Zeppelin comparisons. And i believe this is the same reason for CHICAGO not going in, the big ballads, and i think its what is holding Bon Jovi short of the votes needed at this point.
