One of my fave live performances from her.
The hair in the back of my head stands up everytime she hits that note at the end of the song

Oh wow 45 years ago and there hasn't been anyone better.
She seemed to be the go-to vocalist for alot of tv variety shows through the years. Her live voice is just scarily beautiful. She'll live forever.

I love the quality of her voice leading up to that note when she sings "Wheeeeere caaaaaan yoooou....."
I don't know how many times I've watched it but it's just a complete masterclass from beginning to end.

Forty-five years ago . . . it seems like yesterday, I don't feel too well, now. Thanks
Tommy Flanagan was Ms. Fiztgerald's accompanist, arranger, and band director from the early sixities until the early eighties. Mr. Flanagan isn't given much credit but there's Ella before Flanagan and there's Ella after Flanagan. Tommy was such a lyrical piano player and arranger, he "pushed" Ms. Fiztgerald musically; there was a depth of emotional vulnerability that hadn't been their before she hooked-up with Tommy. Ms. Fiztgerald was at her peek during the 60's and she been singing / recording for 25 years when she appeared on the Any Williams Show.
