I've been on a Ms. Hyman "bender" for a couple of days, it's ironic but not surprising me and Harle have been on the same wave length.

^ She ripped it up there even though she rushed from finishing "Sophisticated Ladies"!

I just found this interview she did not too long before she died:

Apparently she and Billy Preston were doing a play called "Blues Bar". It kinda saddens me looking at Phyllis knowing she was suffering in that clip though she tried to keep her spirits high during this interview.

I remember reading about it briefly in her book(which I need to re-read again, what a fabulous bio love)

It looked like it could've been a promising show. Back in the early to mid 90s, there was a revival of blues-setting plays and they all caused big ruckus whenever they went.

She looked adorable in that clip, even though she hated the way she looked.

I realize you don't care, but I don't find any comfort in your comment (...and I understand your intent was not to comfort). For me; it's just sad enough to lose people we love, I can't understand the reason behind wishing anyone else an early death.

Nevertheless, I support your right to say whatever it is you feel needs to be said.

Phyllis was involved in an accident during her last performance in "Blues Bar". She was coming down some stairs on the set and fell and broke her ankle. Glenda (her manager) said it was a combination of her being overweight and the alcoholism. Her performances during most of the shows were plagued with unprofessional behavior. Phyllis' bipolar disorder was totally out of control by this time.

I never WISHED anything on anyone, just demonstrating the "nice guys finish last" in a manner which sparked your reaction!

Anyway, it's freedom of speech my friend, don't like it? report it, simple.

Back to Phyllis, it's all good. smile

The story behind this song forced Phyllis to bare her heart out, as if that was hard to begin with.

Phyllis said it was one of the hardest songs to record because she couldn't stop crying in the midst of singing it.

I think I remember reading about the accident on JET magazine. In fact now that I remember, I did read that she was performing in "Blues Bar" but that it was a spectacle in the worst way possible for Phyllis. Poor girl. sad
