Phyllis was an incredible vocalist who never really got the reognition and success that she deserved.I have most of her albums.Favorite song is "Old Friend"
I've been on a Ms. Hyman "bender" for a couple of days, it's ironic but not surprising me and Harle have been on the same wave length.

It looked like it could've been a promising show. Back in the early to mid 90s, there was a revival of blues-setting plays and they all caused big ruckus whenever they went.

Glenda (her manager) said it was a combination of her being overweight and the alcoholism. Her performances during most of the shows were plagued with unprofessional behavior. Phyllis' bipolar disorder was totally out of control by this time.

I think I remember reading about the accident on JET magazine. In fact now that I remember, I did read that she was performing in "Blues Bar" but that it was a spectacle in the worst way possible for Phyllis. Poor girl.
It's hard to listen to that song and not be moved by it.I always loved it but after Phyllis' death,it took on a whole new meaning for me.
