Debby Boone ~ You Light Up My Life

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I'm not sure why Debby Boone career was a one hit wonder, a lil' sappy but I like it.

Have you heard about songwriter Joseph Brooks and his son? Both are creeps. eek

That has to be one of the worst songs ever and the killer thing is, it's from a movie no one remembers. Ms Trina, do tell about the songwriter and his son-were they serial killers?

^^ No I haven't, tell me.

This song does give me the creeps though. I loved how people took it as a love song, then Debbie said it was about Jesus or something. lol

I know why she became a one-hit wonder: they played the song too fucking much. lol

Nevermind, I found out about that Brooks dude, apparently he's indicted on assault and (I believe) rape charges against four women. His son strangled and killed a swimsuit designer.

One thing I remember about this song back in the day: It was a HUGE hit! The radio played it like 50 times a day, lol.

I love this song boxed lol

It's one of those songs that people make fun of but back in the day, this song was HUGE.It was Number One for several weeks. My mother had the 45.This song was featured in a movie of the same name, but the movie was a total flop. Most people don't remember the film at all, they only remember the theme song.

The very fact that someone recorded a song called Muskrat Love is enough for me.

Well no they aren't . The Carpenters were brother and sister and Cap and Tennille were husband and wife. razz

lol One of the reasons why they took off was because of Tennille, she really has a nice singing voice and she had a lot of charisma.

The Carpenters were ok too but i don't see much difference

between the two. Karen and Toni both had great voices but

they both will probably be forever classified as cheesy pop.

Captain's eyes look like those kids in those creep velvet paintings. Tennille has a lovely voice, but it is very lounge singer.

Karen Carpenter, totally different. An amazing drummer and one of the most perfect voices of all time. The tone, the feeling she evoked. Never a wrong note. Brilliant. She is up there with Judy Garland, imho.

Why has society made me feel embarrassed to admit "You Light Up My Life" is one of my favorite 70's Pop songs??? mad lol Sure, it may be a little sappy but I'll take 'sappy' over 'crappy', which is mostly what we get now.
