Brandy has torn up the Billboard charts and now she’s setting out to tear up the dance floor. The platinum-selling R&B singer has joined the new cast of “Dancing with the Stars.”

The star of VH1’s “Brandy and Ray J: A Family Business” rounds out a diverse cast for the hit show’s 11th season, which includes singer Michael Bolton, comedienne Margaret Cho, NBA champion Rick Fox, Dirty Dancing actress Jennifer Grey, “Baywatch’s” David Hasselhoff, “Brady Bunch” matriarch Florence Henderson, Disney Channel star Kyle Massey, Sarah Palin’s daughter Bristol Palin, “The Hills” star Audrina Patridge, “Jersey Shore’s” Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, and retired NFL quarterback Kurt Warner.

Past music stars that have competed on the show include Mario, Mya, Lil’ Kim, Toni Braxton, Mel B, Master P, and last year’s winner Nicole Scherzinger.

All 12 couples will dance for the first time on live national television during the two-hour season premiere on Monday, September 20, at 8 p.m. on ABC.

In addition to practicing her dance steps, Brandy is recording a new album set for release in 2011 and will perform with her brother Ray J at the BMI Urban Music Awards in Los Angeles on September 10

As much as I enjoy Margaret Cho, I just can't watch this season. Toooo much of a train-wreck.

I don't see that many "stars" in the cast. Most of them are on the "D" list with Kathy Griffin.

Realistically, what else is she gonna do? She has SOME talent, which means she will get no airplay and while she has had rappers on her songs, she has never been of that world and she is not cute enough to be butt naked in videos. So, this really, is her only option, although for the life of me, I can't figure out why she has not tried to do more acting. She would be a natural fit for those Tyler Perry crapfests.

I will say I am a bit confused as to why her fall from the top has been so spectacular, although I will say her being almost 30 or maybe even 30 and still looking like a teen and not a grown ass woman is not helping matters. It's the Winona Ryder syndrome.

I agree about her acting. It's not like she wasn't in any successful acting roles. She did Moesha,(which put UPN on the map) and Cinderella (which was a hit television movie and sold a shit-load of dvds).

I never have thought that Brandy was attractive, but she is appealing. I think she still should be making music (but hot that crappy stuff that she did on Human). She is a decent singer, though. I think her Mom said it best on their reality show on VH1. She has a very distintive tone that sounds like NO ONE ELSE.

I hope she dances well. Everytime I think of Brandy dancing, I think of performances like these:

Its a done deal for this show, its in the same boat as Idol, it SHOT its load in terms of its popularity and purpose, its over, let it go, i mean when you have people from the HILLS and JERSEY SHORE and you call them "stars" you know the game is up.

Is this the best her management can do??

I seriously must have missed something! Can somebody...anybody...please tell me WHEN the hell was Bristol Palin EVER a "Star"? At leas,t most of the other folks are indeed HAS BEENS! That child is a NEVER EVER BEEN, in any way, shape, form or fashion! So what the hell is she doing on that show?

I don't even think these folks are D list. More like E and F. If they can have Bristol Plain they can have the Naked Cowboy from Times Square or somebody off the street. She's not a star, she's a (former) politician's daughter.

Maybe some of these shows should be more like the cable shows that run for five years and end on their terms instead of milking it till it bleeds to death.

Very much so. She wouldn't win any beauty contests but she's far from ugly.

I would like to see her do more acting too. Obviously she can sing. Her main problem

is simply the music biz. It's just too fickle.

Brandy is real stiff and can't really dance....

I guess Monica will be on next year....

sadly it just makes me miss Aaliyah more, especially thinking of her doing the flamenco. She would have been perfect, like Mya and Nicole...

Brandy's didn't go completely down the drain until after the accident (to me). She still managed to put out good albums before Human.
