En Vogue "Don't let go (love)"

Not a fan of mid 90's rnb, but this was a good song.

headbang music

They were one of the bright spots in 90's RnB music, for sure. This was the last song w/ Dawn Robinson, if I'm not mistaken. I always loved the song. Very powerful. (Set It Off was a good movie, too.)

To me, this is the best R&B hit single of 1996.

This was thier last chance to hit the #1 spot on the pop charts, but peaked only at #2 for the 3rd time...thanks to toni braxton "unbreak my heart".

But that was still a time when there were great singers and acts in the Top 10 and making waves on radio - radio that was quickly on its way to becoming a bland corporate mess. Those couple of years were really the end of an era of great material, great music, great artists. I'd take En Vogue and Toni Braxton in the Top 10 any day over fucking Rihanna or whoever anyday.

so would i. all im saying it was the third time en vogue got halted at the #2 spot... thats all. no biggie.

glen medeiros/bobby brown - "she aint worth it" halted "hold on" back in 1990, and kriss kros' "jump" halted "my lovin (youre never gonna get it)" in the summer of 1992.

I got where you were coming from.

On a bigger note, it just made me nostalgic for a moment about how good music was just 15 years ago, and how it's in the toilet in the past 10. Gosh, I'd love to see Babyface, En Vogue, Deborah Cox, TLC, and Toni Braxton fighting in the top five again.

Another silent chart topper is Cyndi Lauper's blues album, Memphis Blues, which is in it's seventh continuous week at #1. No one's talking about that, and it's a lot more deserved of attention than fucking Eminem or that Taio Cruz MFer.

The focus is so totally OFF in the industry.

i though this thread would have more replies already with such a classic song by the best female r&b group of the 90's.

Bad Ass! Fantastic song. I love it. This thread made me go on YouTube and check out there other videos again. And like, "Don't Let Go," they all hold up really well. Great songs, great style, great production. Come on, "Free Your Mind," is genius.

These four gorgeous ladies could not only sing beautifully but they each had a personality within the group and just seemed very classy. God I miss those days. Now we have the Beyonce's and Rhianna's who should really take a lesson or two...

My favorite girl group and girl group album. They really came into their own with this album. Great harmonies and lead vocals by each lady. biggrin
